Well those who read so far will know we had quite a momentous journey, nothing compared to the way home but more of that later!!!
Still this fresh sunny monday morning of October 4th we were up literally with the larks, body clock well out of sorts.
We had chosen the Hawthorn suites off I drive which had a nice amount of living space and a seperate lounge/kitchen area.We also felt the complimentary breakfast buffet would help with the budget which it realy did. After filling up on bacon, eggs etc... we hit the road and approached Disney main gates. I'm sure all of you know that so exciting feeling of being on Disney soil and there at last. It was a magic moment. :cheer2:
My kids will probably hate me forever when they get older but i had bought them some custom dungarees off ebay. DD5 had minnie and her name on them and DH Mickey with his name. They looked soo so cute and were real show stoppers all day.
A friend had recommended for the first time to get the ferry boat over which takes longer but realy built up that magic feeling.Pluto was on the upper deck but mobbed so we held off going up to see him.
Once inside the turnstiles we wandered up main street stopping to say hi to pinochio, friar tuck and gepetto in the square. We have been to DLP so had an idea of the layout and after months of planning felt i had already been if you know what i mean!
First stop of the day was Fantasyland. Philharmagic was just amazing although DD screamed with fear and burrowed her head into my shoulder. She assures me now that next time we go she will be 6 and a big girl and will watch it! It was all wasted on DS 2 who just took his specs on and off.
The weather was just perfect not too hot with a light breeze and hardly any queues. We spent the morning on the pooh ride, peter pan,tea cups etccc all the pre school stuff before heading up to Toontown.
I love autumn and the decorations around the park were great. They don't grow pumpkins like that over here, and so clever the charachters they carve them into. At toontown we waited for an hour to see the princesse but DD was so excited it was worth it. I like the way you go in in small groups. She got some real quality time with them.We rode the barnstormer and explored mickey and minnies house...loved the mousegosh overalls hanging on the line in the garden and the mickey shaped veg.
We had a late lunch hot dogging at Caseys corner and got a prime seat on the kerb for the pm parade. I was a little disappointed with this one, i think it was the music but its not as upbeat as DLP. The charachters in the globes were amazing however.
DS only 2 was just so scared of all the charachters. He was ok to watch from a distance but when baloo the bear ruffled his hair he nearly fainted with fright poor little soul. From then on we would just make a head shake or hand signal and they would back off. They seem realy good at picking out which kids want what. DD would be the oppposite and hug the all day but i guess shes a little older.
After the parade we explored adventureland, jungle cruise and pirates which is way better than Paris. Mooched about libery square but left the haunted house as the kids were tired and teasy and not sure how it would go down .
While they slept in their strollers DH and i people watched. Disney realy does attract all walks of life.
We had a an early evening PS for crystal palace which was realy busy and i was pleased we had reserved. The food was buffet style and realy tasty and the kids found things they liked. I felt the charachter intervention was a bit quick but it was their peak time and we got to see Tigger, Pooh, Piglet and eeyore as well as joining in the pooh parade around the restaurant.
We then stepped out into darkness amazing how quickly night falls there. The kerbs were already filling up for Wishes so we staked a spot and took it in turns to take the kids to the baby care centre for toilet, nappy changes etc..
Wishes was spectacular. I bought the CD and often listen to it for that Disney feeling! So good when Tink flies down.
It was a scrum to get out as everyone leaves straight after. Disney seem experts in crowd control but i get quite claustraphobic so we held back and just watched the colours change on the castle and soaked up the atmosphere. Just wish you could bottle up that feeling its such a happy place to be.
By the time we got back to the car the kids were out sparko but it was around 10.30pm! Realy enjoyed our first day at the worldxxx

Thanks. We have never been to WDW but know DLP well and I just soaked up the magic feeling from your report. :goodvibes

loved your report, do you have photos of your kids in their dungarees? I felt quite sorry for your ds being scared of the characters i guess its something we should all note for little 'uns, I think they probably would have been too scared by the HH I know my ds was the first time and I don't think I've ever been on it when there wasn't at least 1 kid bawling their head off so good choice there!

What a lovely report and what pleasure you will have gained from giving your kids such an enjoyable time. My youngest son has only managed to keep those 3D glasses on at Honey I Shrunk The Kids, and The Muppets, all the rest he took them off. This was when he was 5, 7 and 9, I am hoping this year he will leave them on, he is 14 now.

He still remembers when he was 5 and Donald Duck gave him a kiss on his head, magic memories.

I really felt the magic with you here. Great report!

Did you really mean,

custom dungarees off ebay. DD5 had minnie and her name on them and DH Mickey with his name

I have a vision of your hubby with his Mickey dungarees on, LOL

I wish we'd been able to see wishes but it was too late for younger DS (5) as it was 9.30.

DS was scared of the characters at DLP when he was 3 - OK by the last day there but first couple just hid. This time not scared but still variable about going up to them - we have a great photo of him looking grumpy at Chef Mickey, then 5 mins later smiling with Chip - how contrary! Elder DS (11) would go up to all of them (except if they were girls) :rotfl2:
