Just thinking about Mickey's Halloween party, & what to do for costumes for my girls..... We are coming from Australia & I'm thinking it might be easier if we buy costumes in the park or at World of Disney.

I have a cute little 8 year old that would dress up as a princess or Minnie or anything that took her fancy & a tall, almost 11 year old who wont want to wear a princess dress, what costumes have you seen for sale in the park lately?

I dont remember seeing costumes in the park, but my daughter found a lot in Target, as she was going to a fancy dress party the day after we flew home.
Target was on the ART bus route from Disneyland, so very easy to get to!
I think you could also look at the costumes on the Target website in USA.
Hope you find something & have a great time

They have tons of costumes in the parks and I am betting will stock up even more as Halloween nears. Princesses, fairies, Minnie, etc. for your little one. There is a store in Adventureland that has Pocahontas costumes - maybe good for your older daughter? (OK technically a princess but a pretty "cool" one.) Maybe your older daughter could be Violet from the Incredibles - I have not seen those costumes in the parks but they are everywhere on eBay. (Same with evil queen from Snow White - maybe another good one for your 10 year old.) I am pretty sure I saw a Jessie costume a few weeks ago at the WoD store. Keep in mind that the costumes in the parks are much more expensive than they are if you buy essentially the same thing from disneystore.com (though I don't know whether they have an AUS site or how the shipping works). IMO, the costumes that you get at Target or other discount stores are super flimsy and aren't cheap enough to make the flimsiness worthwhile.

You can find pretty much every Disney costume on ebay - just make sure that the listing says it's from the Disney Store, otherwise it could be the cheapy kind.

As others have said, it might probably be easier to buy costumes in the park, but certainly a lot more expensive! I've heard by most accounts they are NICE costumes, granted, so if they're going to wear them throughout the trip, or on multiple occasions, it might not be a bad investment. If it's only for one night, though, I don't know...

I don't know your DD10's size (if she's too tall or not)--if she would need an adult size, I'm not certain they have much in the way of adult-sized costumes for sale in the parks anyway; hopefully someone else can figure that out!

For (little) non-princesses they have Jessie and maybe Sally, and I think I've seen Mary Poppins, as well as the Disney Fairies, though I'm not sure that's helpful if she doesn't like princesses! I know they used to have Elizabeth Swann too (at least 3 or 4 different versions), but I don't know if she's still being sold. But again, I've mostly seen those for smaller children, as they don't allow adults to dress up at all during the regular season (just for the Halloween events). Of course you she could be Hannah Montana or whatever teen star girls are into now.

Does your DD10 LIKE any particular characters?

Have a great trip!

I echo what everyone else has said - the costumes at DLR are super cute, BUT they are quite expensive IMO. Just a fair warning :)

Just an idea -- check with your hotel because many will accept a package for you. You could order something online from an online costume company or amazon or target and have it shipped to your hotel. We have shipped things and normally the hotel tells you how to address the package so it is held for you. Most say they aren't responsible for lost or stolen goods but we have never had a problem. We just plan it to arrive the day before we check in.

I was going to suggest what the PP just said about having it shipped to your hotel. Disney Store ships VERY quickly if you want them to. We are in Canada and although I had to pay 19.95 for shipping as opposed to 6.95, it was shipped and arrived at my house within 24 hours.
DD will be Jesse and DS Buzz.
What about Alice for your older child? She's pretty popular right now.

Elizabeth Swann would be perfect for her

That might be a good idea, didn't think of Amazon

Last year at the party DD14 (then 13) was Constance from the HM. DD10 (then 9) was a pirate. You don't have to have Disney themed costumes, they can wear anything. I would probably wait tho, get them when you're there. :) It's just easier that way.
