Halloween / Christmas Items Already?!

I got a catalog today featuring HALLOWEEN items! Come on, it's only AUGUST! Halloween isn't until the END of October! Anyone else think it starts earlier every year?!

ETA: I looked through it and saw Christmas stuff, too!

I think I can top you---try getting two catalogs, from two separate companies, to order Christmas cards yesterday.

I think the argument is the average consumer gets a catalog and looks through the book and places an order within 2 weeks. If the average shipping time is 10 days, that could be as late as the middle of September.
If you allowed for any delays, it would be the end of September and you would then have 4 weeks to display whatever you bought.

Catalog companies know that most people put off ordering their Christmas stuff until the end of October and into November. So to allow for shipping, they send the books out in the summer.

You all should go to this Christmas store in Michigan. Its open all year and seems to do steady business all year round. I was there in October and it was crazy.

Bronner's is a fun place to spend money -- DW and DD help me do that quite nicely on our biennial trip to Frankenmuth -- however, my solution to seeing Christmas lights outside when it's not 10 degrees outside is to either go to Florida around that time of year or drive through some of the local neighbourhoods and see the Christmas lights up and lit in the middle of summer.

BTW -- we are now past the point where the lights still on houses are up late. Those lights are now up early.
