Hello. I am new to the website and wanted to see if I could get some info on a trip I have planned for this October. My family and I are avid Disney fans and go to Disneyland/DCA a few times each year. I know the parks inside and out but the one thing I haven't ever done is Halloween time at Disneyland. So one of our trips this year will be taking my girls to Disneyland this Halloween. I just was hoping to find out if the additional cost of the Trick or Treat party pass is worth spending or if we can experience the Halloween magic enough without the extra cost? What else should we make sure and not miss while we're there for that particular holiday? Thanks for any ideas or help you might be able to offer me!

Hi jeffy, and WELCOME!!!!

We have done Halloweeen Time on its own AND with the Trick or Treat Party. We actually enjoyed doing it both ways.

I definately think you can experience the Halloween magic without going to the Party, BUT, having said that, we did feel that the Party was worth the money we paid for it!

I hope that makes sense--there is plenty to do and much to see without going to the Party. To me, the Party was icing on the cake, not necessary, but really fun! Whatever you choose, you will LOVE Halloween Time!

Make sure you take in all the fall decor--it's beautiful, especially back by Big Thunder Ranch area. There are seasonal food offerings so search those out.

There is more, but I'm sure others will chime in.

Have FUN!:)

Welcome Jeffy:wave2:
We went to one of the Halloween parties last year. Had a blast. There is a different feel/vibe about the park. The background music is different, special parade and fireworks, special photo opportunities. Our fav is of the star wars storm troopers. also it's fun to see different areas sectioned off for candy lines, I think one navigates the park differently. We visited again 3 weeks ago for spring break and the children remarked how fun it was to remember the differences. A lovely experience for the Disney fan at least once in a lifetime.:flower3:

How old are your kids? We went with a 3.5 yr old and a 6 yr old, and it was fun, but more geared for older kids. Seemed great for about 8 and up, with tons of candy, dance parties, lots of character meet & greets (although with long, slow lines), and just a fun party atmosphere. But the 3 yr old didn't have the patience for the crowds (it felt more crowded during the party than it did during the day), and the rides he most liked were closed. He fell asleep part way into the party, and the 6 yr old barely managed to stay awake long enough for the fireworks and parade.

The adults in our group thought it was a blast, and we all had fun wearing our costumes, seeing all the decorations and just enjoying the party. I'd definitely go back, but not until my son is old enough to stay up late to experience a lot more of the party.

Hi There,
Sorry if this is Hijacking your thread but we also would like to attend a Halloween party in DisneyLand and are hoping desperately that there is one on during our dates in the area.

Coming from Aus we will not have Halloween Costumes in tow, is it acceptable to go without a costume? Should we make plans to try and have something prepared? DD is 16.

Thanks!

Costumes aren't required at all, and we saw lots of people in regular street clothes during the party. Hope it works out for you to go!

Thanks for all the info! I think we're going to pull the trigger and do it. The more I talk about it with my wife the more we want to do it. We are traveling with a 6 year old who can't stop talking about trick or treating at Disneyland. I don't think the 7 month old will mind. Hopefully she will be sleeping in the stroller anyway! Should be an adventure having a baby all by itself! One thing I did forget to ask about, if anyone knows, is it better to go on the Friday night party or the Tuesday night party? Or does it even make a difference? And do they close the other park early on the nights of the party? We are going to try and spend as much time in the parks as we can so if they close DCA early the night that the party is in Disneyland we will go do some Down Town Disney shopping. Thanks for all of the replies and info!! I really appreciate it and look forward to being part of the community!!

We did the Tuesday night party, and heard it hadn't quite sold out. I'd guess the Friday parties do sell out quickly. I'd rather go on Tues and hope that it's even a little less crowded than Friday.

DL closed at 6 the night of the party, but DCA was open later (I think 9? with World of Color showing at 9:15? I remember that WOC started after the park was officially closed). People with tickets for the party could start coming into the park (in costume or not) starting in the late afternoon - like 3:30 or so.

I think you'll have fun!
