Halloween 2023

Hey y'all!
We have only been to DL once so I'm not too familiar with the Halloween festivities. We went during Christmas and loved it! I'm a WDW veteran of 46 yrs... and our daughter wants to come to DL for her graduation trip.
She's been going to WDW since she was 2 and LOVES MNSSHP but thinks she might want to see what DL is all about.

Here's what I'm struggling with.....

1-is there trick or treating in the park like MNSSHP?

2-is Oogie Boogie Bash a ticketed event? Could we do just the party without using a park day ticket (if we entered when the party attendants are allowed in)?

3-does DL switch from Halloween to Christmas on November 1? She wants to be there for Halloween and Christmas decorations.

1. Disneyland's "version" of MNSSHP is Oogie boogie bash. There is trick or treating treat lines. You can't really compare the two events because they are so different.

2. With that- yes OBB is a ticketed event. DCA closes early at 6pm for it. Party ticket gets you in at 3. You don't use a park day ticket for it, but you have to have a OBB ticket. Tickets sold out in 3 days this year.

3. Christmas usually starts the first weekend in November. It's hard to do both at Disneyland without staying for a long trip.

Glad to know that OBB sells out quick. We would be going to MNSSHP on the 31st if we did it and that one goes quick too.
LOL We won't be staying that long *unfortunately* but that's good to know.
Now to relay this all to her and get a final decision!

A question for OBB vets. This year's OBB was September and October. Are those two months the historical dates for the event? We are scheduling a west coast trip next fall and want to end up in DL/DCA and want to do OBB. We just got back from WDW where we did the MNSSHP, and really enjoyed it. We would prefer to end our trip around mid to late September, but want to be sure the OBB is historically done for that month. What say all y'all OBB vets?

The first bash dates are usually during the first week of September and they run Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

However I did see on a live stream that they started putting some small Christmas decorations up a couple days ago. If you can check out a stream on YouTube in the evening the next few days and see how the Christmas decoration progresses!

Thank you I wish it was like WDW but I know we won't be making the trip extended that long.

If it helps the decision, while the winter holiday season celebration won't have started, a lot of the decorations will be going up during the latter half of October. Obviously not the tree since it goes where the Mickey pumpkin goes, but the castle is usually full snow by the end of the Halloween celebration. But it's definitely a "when two holidays collide" moment at the end of October.

It is important to note that things like IASW will be closed to get its overlay in late October until the winter holiday celebration begins.

decorations are going up around the park, but Christmas in the park officially starts Friday, November 11th.
