Halifax to Orlando airfare

New to this board (posting, not reading )...

Has anyone booked a decent price for airfare from Halifax to Orlando for this December? I know in the past we've paid as low as $169 each way (Air Canada), not sure if we'll be able to do that again. Our trip won't feel finalized until our airfare is booked

Just keep looking.. prices seem to go up and down all the time. It seems like Continental is very competetive these days, and since there are no direct flights that time of year, I'd keep a close eye on them. I remember a few years ago they had flights on AC to Orlando for like $127 each way through Toronto. Came to well under $400 with all the taxes and such, but that was when everything was good in the world.. again another plug for Avion and Aeroplan points.

Too bad you're not close to the border. Way cheaper to fly out of the US. I just booked for $172USD out of Buffalo. I would not want to pay airfare out of Halifax.

If it wasn't December I'd say drive to Bangor and fly from there. 7.5-8 hr drive each way and airfare is still cheaper for 3-4 ppl.

All depends on how much your time is worth I suppose. It would have to be $$$$$$$$ cheaper for me to even consider driving 12-13 hours, plus hotel.

Again yet another plug for Avion/Aeroplan.

I would book aeroplan, but the only flights available go through half a dozen random cities (I exaggerate ) and I only want to risk one stopover in the lovely winter months. Also, I would prefer Westjet or AC -- less chance of having my seat sold from under me.

I just can't wait until December -- and since it's just a little early for my Disney package to arrive in the mail , I am focusing on the airfare.

Now to go read some trip reports to get my Disney fix for now...

Anybody here use Airmiles? I just booked a flight from Deer Lake, Newfoundland to Orlando using Airmiles and it cost me a total of $570 in taxes for 3 people. The same flight right now is "on sale" and it would cost around $2100 for the exact same flights. I am a firm believer in Airmiles in the last 2 years I must say. Its well worth the $90 annual fee.

were heading out late september early october- air fare is going to cost us 23something for 2 adults and 2 small kids. thats the kicker of the entire trip!!!

My wife is heading down for a few days in September and noticed Continental was in the low 400's and now Air Canada is in the low 400's for the flights she wants. Not too shabby.

thats not bad at all. i did come across continetal on tripcentral.ca and it was low but everytime i loaded the selection it was an error and unavailable. but for 30 dollars more i could call them and have them help me- hmmmm interesting!

one thing to note with continental- i checked and for my dates wed save a little over 200. however they charge 15$ for the first checked bag and 25 for each there after! so for all of us to go with two pieces each= 190, and id assume thats plus tax. so not really much point in myself booking with them.

At least you guys have some options....Our option in western Nl is Air Canada. Thats it. I can drive 7 hours to St. Johns and get Westjet, air Canada, Contenental, other than that we are stuck with very expensive airfare over here. Oh and we are travelling early October.

We did the Pearson connection on our last trip -- 9.5 hours each way -- never again.

A lot of our friends do the park and fly through Bangor every Feb. -- they think it's well worth it, too.

I agree -- the Halifax airfares stink -- it should be so much cheaper

Yup -- did Airmiles the last trip -- which was why we connected at Pearson. But for our trip to Indiana next year, it's Airmiles all the way.

We are flying out of Bangor this summer. Halifax to Bangor is around 8 hours drive. It is far but all five of us are flying for $1200.00 cdn (on Continental). We have flown out of Portland as well. It is another 2 hours drive or so.

With a family of 5, it is the only way we can afford to travel these days. We make the drive to the US part of the trip and the kids look forward to it.

Well 1200.00 US vs the 2700.00 that Westjet is quoting as a "Seat Sale" Fare right now. That works out to about 80-100 dollars an hour for every hour we drive to Maine. It would be worth it for alot of people I'm thinkin.
Now for the Aeroplan debate. I think it depends on how much you charge a year for it to be worth while.
We use Airmiles ourselves. We booked last July/August and used all the miles we had. I have 4300 collected already which is two tickets back to Orlando. I would never collect enough Aeroplan etc miles to even Fly to the end of the runway yet!
