Halfway between Orlando and DC

We are driving from Orlando to DC in June. (My daughter was accepted into an internship program at Georgetown University !) We are then leaving from DC to return to Ohio. Does anyone know a good stopping point about halfway to DC? I know it is only a 13 hour trip, but I want to stop for the night. Thank you for any help.

My parents like stopping in Savannah (and they ate at Paula Deen's restaurant)!!

We stopped in Santee, SC. Wherever you stay, be sure to book your room in advance. Hotels on 95 fill up quickly.

SC is a great midway point for that trip.
