Half Days?

What are your opinions on them? I "half" one tomorrow and thursday, along with next wednesday(before thanksgiving). I personally like getting out early, but don't like still having to get up in the morning, I'd rather them condense the half days into one full day, and give us a day off, ya know?

I like half days, we had one today.. but I didn't go because of something. But I don't really like your idea of another day off..lol. That would mean that by the time summer is they add on the days you got off, so what I'm saying is - they add on more days of the school year and then your summer is shorter. Understand?

I meant you would combine all the half days into one full day of school, so essentially, you are going for the same amount of time. And on the days where we would have had a "half day" we would have a day off.

It's all about getting those days in. Indiana law is that if we eat lunch, at the earliest I believe 10:00, it can count as a full day. So, we could go & eat lunch at 10:00 & be done & it's a full day. But, combining two half days equals one more day you have to spend at the end of the year. Two half days actually count as two full days.

Confusing? Yes. Makes sense? Yes.

They took out all half days this year for us. I never went anyways because none of the teachers did anything and it seemed like a gigantic waste of time. I think we get more days off though, plus we have "extra" days that we have to go to incase of hurricanes. Its weird. So now we are going to school like 2 extra days cause we only had one hurricane day. Not happy :/ lol

Yeah thats what happened to us. Its only by a few days, but that matters to me lol.

I love half days. At my school, there's 2 different half days. 1 that gets out at 11:45 AM and another one that gets out at 12:30 PM.

We always usually go to 1st period, 5th period, 6th period, and 7th period. Or 1st period, 2nd period, 3rd period, and 4th period. Which I dont like.


The half days make the year go by faster.

It happens all the time here, where I live and go to school, lol. The summer means something to me, too. I don't like the extra days, and I don't think that more extra days would help anything. It would only make my summer shorter even if there was just a couple of days added onto the school year...

Yea thats what it is at my school in WI

I dont really care about getting up early cause than for the rest of the day you can go hang with your friends or do what ever pleases you.

I totally understand what Jan is saying. Since each half day counts as a full day, if you combined the two days, you would only end up with one full day.

But I never liked them. I didn't like getting up so early to just do nothing in every class and then go home 4 hours later. But our teachers would always give us a lot of homework since we missed class time. So we always ended up doing more schoolwork on our half days than on normal days.

In my school on half days, we usually didn't do anything, so it was a lot of fun to go to school. Especially before holiday breaks. The teachers just didn't care, so we watched movies and some even lets us wander around and go into our friend's classrooms. lol

My school district doesn't issue half-days. But, we get shortened periods. [They last for an hour as opposed to 90 minutes.] Then everyone chills during the last 2 hours or so.

We only have a few of them. Usually for teachers turning in grades each quarter meaning that we have 4 of them. We actually have off on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and also the day after of course.

that's whats great about college, pretty much every day is a half day. monday Wednesday, friday im done at 10:50 am. Tuesday, thursday i have 2 classes 9:30-10:30 and 12-2
