I'm planning on going to Typhoon Lagoon next Saturday. I'm going to split the day with DS. I was wondering what everyone thought about going from open through ~2pm vs going at 1pm through close? My last few experiences at the water parks have been through the week and it seems there is a morning rush then people (mostly tour groups) either leave or at least stop doing the slides. I wasn't sure if this pattern would hold on a weekend though.

Chance for rain in the afternoon during a Florida August is high. They let you swim if there is no lightning though. But based on weather, I would suggest morning.

I agree with you, afternoons tend to slow down. Even on weekends it seems to be the case, but I do not go enough to have more than anecdotal experience.

I'd go early or see about buying H2O tickets. We just did H2O and honestly it was the highlight of the entire trip.

I did forget about lightning, even though last time I went to TL I got chased off by weather.

In my experience the afternoons get very crowded.. Every time we have went -once or twice a trip- the morning was the time to go on the slides as the lines become long the later it got. Note that we do not stay past 1-2 most of the time so I can not speak beyond that but I know getting on a slide around 12 or 1 was a long wait.

This is exactly what we did on our recent trip. We got to Typhoon Lagoon at opening, rode a bunch of rides before it got busy, relaxed in the lazy river, had lunch, then packed up and headed to DS. We shopped until it was time for our dinner reservations at Art Smiths Homecoming (loved).

we, too, just did he H2O event and I highly recommend. We got on all slides, lazy river, wave pool, fun atmosphere with DJ. With that being said, we went last week during the mornings. One thing to think about is parking, when we left around 1, people coming in were parking so far from front entrance.

It's the best way to experience a water park. Worth every penny
Yeah, I think I'll do it in the future. It is a really good deal if you don't already have water park tickets, but we have APs so makes it less of a deal. The biggest strike against it right now for us is that we'll have our 3 yo in tow and will be rope drop to fireworks the next day at MK. It does look like a lot of fun though.

Arrive 30-15min before opening, do a bunch of slides as many times as you like, then just relax in the lazy river and wave pool.

After the afternoon storm passes though, its usually pretty cleared out at the water park.

I've been there at opening & left as the storm approached, got several good hours in. I've also rope dropped other parks (usually am EMH park) then back to room for a nap & change to head into a WP after storm passes. Really either way works well.

Because it opens later & closes earlier than other parks, I like to plan it mid-trip (also so there's time for suits to dry) & put before or after a late night when a little extra sleep in is good or put before an early morning when turning in early one night is a good idea.

I usually use WP as my pool & almost never enter a resort pool, making that amenity NO consideration to where I stay.
