To all Dissers out there maybe you could help me out as I really do not understand the half board concept or please correct me if i am wrong.:confused3

Half Board Standard:

If you opted for half board what do you get? Can you choose from the whole menu of a restaurant or are there special half board set menus you have to choose from (and pay the regular price if you want something else)?

What about buffet restaurants can you choose from the whole buffet or are there "restricted" stations?

Half Board Plus:

Is it the same as above, just the selection of restaurants is wider?:wizard:

Half Board Premium:

What is included here? Or is it a total waste of money, because you have to should better choose only high premium restaurants to get your money's worth. And as above is it valid only for set menus?

Trying to figure this out for some weeks now, but as I do not know how to compare I do not find a solution.

Thanks for your help :grouphug:

Hi, I have used the HB Plus vouchers and will be using them again in Oct- I'll try and help you out as best i can.
The type of half board you are offered use to depend on the hotel you were staying at so Davy Crockett, Santa fe and Cheyenne you would be offered standard, for Newport Bay, Sequoia lodge and New York you would be offered HB Plus and for the Disneyland Hotel the Premium- However i think they have made it so that you can upgrade plan if you wish.

Half Board Standard:

If you opted for half board what do you get? Can you choose from the whole menu of a restaurant or are there special half board set menus you have to choose from (and pay the regular price if you want something else)?

If your have half board standard you can eat in the following places:-

La Cantina (Disney's Hotel Santa Fe)
Chuck Wagon Café (Disney's Hotel Cheyenne)
Crockett's Tavern (Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch)
Agrabah Cafe (Disneyland Park)
Rendez-Vous des Stars (Walt Disney Studios Park)
Annette's Diner (Disney Village)

You'll be given a set menu to choose from- normally has three options on it for each course- some include drinks some dont.

What about buffet restaurants can you choose from the whole buffet or are there "restricted" stations?

No, if you eat at a buffet from above then you will get to have whatever you want. However if you eat in a buffet restarurant that is on the HB Plus list and not on the standard list then you will have to use the voucher for face value and pay a little extra- this is the same with non buffet restaurants too

Half Board Plus:

Is it the same as above, just the selection of restaurants is wider?

Yes, its worth more so you get to eat at the ones above plus:-

Hunter's Grill (Disney's Sequoia Lodge)
Cape Cod (Disney's Newport Bay Club)
Parkside Diner (Disney's Hotel New York, Lunch Only)
The Steakhouse (Disney Village)
La Grange at Billy Bob's Country Western Saloon (Disney Village)
Sliver Spur Steakhouse (Disneyland Park)
The Lucky Nugget Saloon (Disneyland Park)
Beaver Tavern (Disney's Sequoia Lodge)
Walts (Disneyland Park)

Again if you have HB Plus you can then use these for face value and pay the extra to eat at the gourmet restaurants below- When you do this you dont have to stick to the set menu but choose whatever you wish form the whole menu.

You can also use two vouchers for the Disney Princes & Princesses meal at Auberge du Cendrillon.

Half Board Premium:

What is included here? Or is it a total waste of money, because you have to should better choose only high premium restaurants to get your money's worth. And as above is it valid only for set menus?

With the premium you can then eat at these as well:-
California Grill (Disneyland Hotel)
Inventions (Disneyland Hotel) (Character Dining at certain times)
Manhattan Restaurant (Disney's Hotel New York)
Yacht Club (Disney's Newport Bay Club)
Blue Lagoon Restaurant (Disneyland Park)
Café Mickey (Disney Village) (Character Dining at certain times)
Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show (Disney Village) (Dinner Show)

Most of these have set menu's so i guess you may be restricted to choosing from that menu- I'm not 100% sure on this but some items on the menus for these restaurants are pretty pricey so i think they would restrict it in some way- but i also would imagine that you could use the voucher for face value and pay extra- if that makes sense.

Does that help?

Brilliant, that really explains everything.

Just such a shame that you can't book the vouchers if you are staying off-site. We are staying off-site in October and if we could have bought the vouchers then we would have eaten at DLRP every night, without the vouchers I'll just cook when we get back most nights.

Yeah it is a shame, I def think the Half Board plus is worth while.

Thanks tigger, that's great. Fab to know you can use 2 vouchers at Auberge. We didn't do that the last time despite having decided we definitely would, so this is great to know as we definitely will be doing it next time.

Well i dont know that from personal experience but it's what i have read.Maybe someone will be able to confirm that and the info regarding the premium vouchers that has used them.

Tigger you saved our vacation. Many thanks and you made our Halloween Dinner Planning much easier.

Greetings :grouphug:
