Hakuna Matada - Speedy September

Tandy, surround your self with people who know how to dream and people who don't have time for sitting around with a 'poor me' attitude. You have one life share it with positive people, like the ones here on our team. Positive people will keep you up and keep you believing.

Hi Team!

Saylan- Thanks!! Good luck with your costume ideas! That’s great you were able to get a credit from the airline. I wear compression socks and sleeves, but I prefer the compression sleeves that go from above the ankle to just below the knee.

Vicky- Thanks! It’s completely fine you missed posting it. No biggie! We didn’t do anything big to celebrate this year. We just went to an all you can eat seafood buffet dinner at a local casino the Saturday before. I agree, getting up is the hardest part. I’m going to keep trying though and see if I can get it to stick as a habit. We don’t take Sydney with us on runs over 3-4 miles. She seems to get tired about that time. LOL, it just doesn’t sound like a very well directed race. I’m glad your knee is feeling better. And, I am very happy to hear you got your ticket booked to DC!!! That’s great!!!

Dave- I’m glad you’re feeling better and are excited about getting serious about your competition and training. Well said on the positive people!!

Kim- Congrats on finishing the half marathon last weekend!!

Lynn- Do flat tires happen often? Glad you were able to make it out on the bikes yesterday.

Dave- I hope you feel better soon!

Tandy- Welcome back! Thank you! We are young-ins! :goodvibes We’ve only been married 5 years, but they have been a wonderful 5 years and I still feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Happy belated Anniversary to you as well!! I love the late summer/fall weddings too! My favorite time of year! :cloud9: Congrats on finishing your M,W, F classes!! And Congrats on taking your test and being done with it. I’m glad your calf is at least tolerable, and am sorry it’s not healing as quickly as you would like. Good luck with your diet!

AFM, nothing too exciting going on here. I’m trying to get DH, myself, and a few friends signed up for a wine tour to a few of the local wineries and will be excited once we touch base with everyone and get that booked. I’m hoping I can get it booked tomorrow. We have also started taking out Halloween decorations and are looking forward to getting those up. Sydney, our doodle bug, had her first jaunt on the beach yesterday and she enjoyed it. Couldn't get her to go in the water yet, but I think she wanted to. The sound of the water coming up onto the beach scared her a little. Training is going ok. I can’t believe we’re less than 100 days from Marathon weekend! Oh, and I also ordered a WISH bondiband. I’ve never worn one before so I hope I like it!

Have a great Thursday team!

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Not doing too well on the planks - did get 2 days in so far, I’ll try for another so I can maybe claim a half a point!

Kim - Hi!

Regina - Flat tires seem pretty common in a large bike ride. We do not get them often, but enough to have to know how to change a tube in the field! I got our Halloween decorations out last week, we will be at WDW during Halloween (and Scott’s birthday - not to mention food and wine festival), so I got them out early so we can enjoy them before we leave.

Tandy - The trip to South Africa will be next Feb. My dogs are too big for any sort of basket, and I do not trust them to stay beside the bike - if they see a rabbit they take off! I can control the leash while walking, but do not think I could while on a bicycle! Here’s hoping they release you to run on the 6 week appt!

AFM - Got dogs out for a walk, but again really windy so we did not take bikes out, I started some balance ball exercises in the basement, but started to feel a bit queasy, so I took it easy the rest of the day. Feel better today, will see what the weather holds. Cooler today - high of 61 degrees. On Saturday we are headed down to Colorado for a 53 mile ride - not prepared for that one! I think it is the last organized ride of the year.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi Team!

Lynn- That is a good idea! What kind of decorations did you put up? Are you going to take them down before you leave or after you return? I’m glad you’re feeling better today. Have a safe trip to Colorado this weekend!

Where is everyone today?

AFM, got in a 4 mile run in my vibrams on the TM with DH at his work. I am finding I like running in them for the shorter miles, but they do rub a little under my right big toe. Body glide helps with that. And my thief neighbor is moving out as I type so I am very excited to see her gone. Good riddance! I got us booked for a wine tour at the end of October so I am also very excited about that and looking forward to purchasing some new wine!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Good morning team. Sounds like a lot of people are having a good time being at the mouse house for the W&D half. Sure wish I could have gone. I used to go to WDW twice a year, January and Oct, so I really miss it this time of year. I dought I'll be going more than once a year from now on but you never know what the future holds.

I have thought of doing DVC points but the yearly maintance fee if I got 300 points, enough for two one week stays would be nearly as much as what I can stay there for anyway.

I'm headed out for a good strong 4 miler throug the cemeteries this morning. I hope to have a new PR for the route.

Dave:hippie:

Dave: Ooh, a run through the cemetery! How very Halloween!
I too would love to buy DVC, but just can't justify it. I'm not a deluxe resort kind of girl (although I could easily be talked into it), so it's not like I can compare the cost to my regular stay at a moderate. Not even close. Oh well.

Lynn: Smart to decorate early since you won't be home. If you need decorations while at WDW, you should go over to the campground. I love how the campers decorate the loops. I'm sure you'll do fine on your bike ride. You ride so much, you probably don't even realize how ready you are for it!:thumbsup2

Regina: I ordered a Bondiband on the last order and I love it. It's HUGE compared to other cotton headbands, and it kind of goes down your forehead just a little. But, it works much better for wicking sweat off. My puppy wouldn't go in the water either at first. Now that he's 3, I can't get him out. He is water obsessed! We used to own a cruiser (boat) and he would pace around the walkway just terrified. One day, while underway, he fell in. That was it. He was hooked.
5 years is nothing to sneeze at in today's world. That's fantastic. But, you are mistaken. I am the luckiest girl in the world! ;)

AFM: Not too much to report. Got a 2 mile walk in yesterday. Planning 4 today and maybe, finally, I can lift some weights today. I have PT, so don't want to push things too much. We have a busy weekend of 3 baseball games, lots of walking and my son is having at least one sleepover. I have a ton of studying to do. We have a test on bones in anatomy/ physiology that has over 200 questions. I know all the 206 bones, but having to know the names of the 10 or so different points on each one is waking me up with nightmares!

:cheer2: Weekend Racers :cheer2:

Good luck Rick, Mike & Liz! This is Mike & Liz's first marathon!! Can't wait to hear about it!!

October

1 - Chicago AIDS 5K Run - Rick
2 - Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon, Milwaukee, WI - Mike & Liz

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Is today the day to do the official weigh in? I guess I need to go to the first page and read the new rules!

Dave - DVC points are not for everyone, although we have made good use of ours. Have fun in the cemeteries!

Mike - Good luck to you and Liz on your first Marathon!

Regina - We have some Halloween lights and candles and decorations up around our livingroom. We will leave them up until we get home. Have fun at the wine fest, Scott got some really good wine at the one we went to in Colorado.

Tandy - That was one problem with getting DVC points - you get accustomed to the luxury! We will be staying at the Mandarin Oriental in DC which would cost us over $500 a night if we were paying for it! No way would we ever put out that kind of cash for a hotel room! If we did not have DVC points, we would still be staying at Pop or All Stars!

AFM - Yesterday, after a windy morning, we looked out the window and saw the trees not moving, so we got into our riding kits and headed out - got in 16 miles on the bikes, and the dogs got their 1.27 mile loop. We spent a good portion of the day planning a camping road trip to Atlanta next year for Scott’s nephews high school graduation.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Yes Mike and Liz, have an awesome experience. There is something about that 26.2 miles that will keep you coming back. Although you will swear about mile 24 each time that you will never do it again.

The worst experience for me was that God Aweful freezing Goofy of 2010. I swore for 3 months that I'd never do it again. Then I signed up for it again. last January I went in untrained and thought I was gonna die out there, swore that was it. Yep I'm doing it again. This time I'm going in strong as a bear.

I had a nice comfortable training walk on my hill route this morning. It was 4 miles at a 12:11 per mile pace.

Dave:hippie:

Hi everyone! Happy Friday!

Tandy - That's a lot of stuff to memorize! You should make a song or rhyme about it :) And on a busy weekend no less! How do you do it all? How's your calf when your walking? Forgot to ask you how you're using your PB2 - I remember you're putting in Greek yogurt but couldn't remember what else you're using it in.

Dave - You're training with some pretty hardcore walkers! I think that's the best way to improve :) Yes the maintenance fees on the points is quite hefty! Good luck on your 4 miler this weekend! Walk fast like the zombies are chasing you!

Regina - I think five years is awesome! I know a few people who got married and barely lasted a year and a half. I think you should throw a party to celebrate the departure of the neighbour. Good ridance! I haven't tried Vibrams yet - how long did it take you to get use to running a mile in them? My physio was telling me that you have to break them in really slowly so maybe no more than 5 mins of running at a time. The wine tour sounds like fun! Which wineries are you going to? You'll have to let us know if you come across any finds - I'm not a wine drinker but I always give wine bottles out at Christmas.

Lynn - Safe travels to you and Scott this weekend! Hope you have great weather for your bike ride! I have heard the same safety tips for SA but I think that going with a Disney tour group is a pretty safe bet. My dentist went on a safari and a tour of Johanesburg last December and loved it.

Mike/Rick - Good luck with your races this weekend!

AFM - I'm down another 1.2 lbs this week! Yay! I would have liked more but I'm happy with any kind of loss! I've been staying away from most refined sugars, trying not to eat carbs after breakfast and staying away from the snacks. I bypassed buying a bag of Golden Oreos (vanilla) earlier in the week. Normally I would have just grabbed them because they're on sale and I'd just tell myself I'd only have 1 or 2. So I'm happy about that!

Oh and you guys might find this funny... I made a batch of lemon blueberry muffins the other day. I like having muffins before my LRs on the weekend. For whatever reason, I had mixed up the batter, scooped them into the tin, popped them in the oven and then realized that I forgot to add the sugar. That's never happened before! So the muffins ended up tasting like a buttermilk biscuit with blueberries which is fine with me. It must have been a subconscious thing

I had a training session last night and I did a lot of compound exercises and a couple of speed training exercises. The first was pushing the sandbag back and forth across the gym floor and the other was being tethered to my trainer and sprinting across the gym floor. That's a tough one but it really helped on my half last weekend when I was running into the wind.

Planning on a 12 miler this weekend and I'm going to see if I can get out for a pedi and whether I have time to see the 'Lion King' 3D. Oh and I also have tickets to go and see a presentation with the Cake Boss :) That should be fun!

Have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Happy Friday, all,

Yay! Tandy is back!:)

Lyn: Your biking posts have inspired me to steal my oldest DD's bike every Tuesday and Thursday morning for cross-training. Not a lot of mileage yet but it feels good to ride in the cool mornings.

Saylan: We haven't decided on our moderate hotel for the Princess yet. Looks like it might be Port Orleans but I'm not sure if we'll do Riverside or FQ. Love the costume ideas. :thumbsup2

Good luck Rick, Mike and Liz:cheer2:

Vicky: Glad that you have decided to do MCM. That sounds like a great race.

Regina: I love my WiSH Bondi. Good riddance to the neighbor!

AFM: Today is a rest day. I have a 6-mile run tomorrow. That will be my longest distance in months. Looking forward to it! Maybe I'll run through a cemetery like Dave. That would increase my pace;)

Enjoy the weekend, all!

LOL, the cemeteries are a great place to train. It's very quiet and because of the heavy tree cover and the grass the oxygen concentration is great. Much better than along the carbon dioxide rich road sides. Besides I'm the meanest baddest thing there so ain't afraid of no zombies.

Vickie, my friend Nyle in NZ is going to take a shot at setting a new world record for the 10K. She is the best masters woman on the planet and after taking gold at 2 world championships in a row it's time. They have it set up for the 15th of Oct. She is an amazing race walker and does a half marathon under 2 hours.

I'm off to work, y'all have a super friday.
