Elizabeth: Thanks! Im glad to hear you're getting better but I do hope your PT appt helps you get back into things. It can be really frustrating to be sidelined.
Vicky: Thanks! I know it's not 'necessary' but I hate missing out on other team members posts so it was definitely nagging me. I will hopefully be able to balance things better in the future.
Yes, I think I might be a little adventurous in my goals so slimming it back may be in order. I hadn't really thought of PRing really in anything, but I'm worried two halves so close together might be a little much for me.
Thanks for the tip on the discount code! I've written it down so I don't forget it. You're for sure doing that race then? I'm not sold on the Zoo Run but it does give me something to do in September. I am definitely going to take your advice to heart though since you have way more experience with it than me, but the bling may win out in my trying it just once anyways.
I noticed it after I posted it but not before. I can totally photoshop that sucker out. And yeah, he walked all but I think the last mile or so he said. He is a super fast walker by nature (makes not losing him in a crowd challenging). He walks around a 12min/mile normally which is what he did on race day. That is the pace I did the Princess and the DL running.
If you're looking for the Warrior Dash site,
here it is. The course looks a lot nicer than Tough Mudder by far! There is a fire obstacle but it is much tamer it sounds than the TM one. The TM says a minimum of 4 feet for their flames...
Your trainer is insane, by the way, since the Tough Mudder the obstacles are approximately as follows (in this order starting shortly after the start line):
- 'Death March': a climb up a red-graded ski mountain to the top
- 'Everest': climbing up over a quarter pipe (think snow boarding)
- 'Funky Monkey': money bars (some greased) over ice cold 'lake'
- 'Greased Lightning': a water/mud tarp-like slide downhill
- 'Kiss of Mud': crawling through mud under wire placed 8" off the ground
- 'Boa Constrictor': crawling through industrial-type tubes in muddy water
- 'Kinky Tunnels': a series of dark, wooden corridors that bend and turn along the way
- 'Log Jammin'': going over and under wooden logs
- 'Mystery Obstacle'
- 'Spider's Web': up and over two cargo nets
- 'Berlin Walls #1': a series of wettened 12' wood walls
- 'Bale Bonds': going over hay bales
- 'Walk the Plank': a jump off a board, 15' drop into cold water followed by swimming out
- 'Devil's Beard': navigating under low laying cargo nets
- 'Mud Mile': tough mud-filled trenches
- 'Turd's Nest': a cargo net suspension crossing
- 'Arctic Enema': Icy cold bath in coloured water
- 'Twinkle Toes': crossing a thin wood bridge surrounded by icy water
- 'Blowing Smoke up Your A**': climb up a ladder and jump through to the other side (which is obscurred by smoke)
- 'Cliffhanger': a climb up a mountain trek path
- 'Ball Shrinker': crossing on a 2 rope bridge (one for hands, one for feet) over a mud pit
- 'The Trenches': another mud-filled series of trenches
- 'Hold Your Wood': Carry a log up and then down a ski hill
- 'Mystery Obstacle'
- 'Log bog Jog': running through the woods while hopping over fallen trees
- 'Berlin Walls #2': same as #1, 12', wet, wood walls
- 'Fire Walker': go through kerosene soaked burning straw with flames minimum 4' high
- 'Electroshock Therapy': a field (they hang down) of live wires with shocks as much as 10, 000 volts
Your trainer is absolutely crazy as is my friend who wants me to do this. Luckily the Midsummer's race is that day so that will be better suited for me I think.
