Hi Team!

Dave- That’s great Sally will be joining you! And Congrats to Sally on getting the job she wanted. That is wonderful news! How is she liking her new job so far? Way to go on getting your 10 miler done and yay that you weren’t sore from it. New shoes are always good to have. LOL, that is why I don’t watch scary movies. Good luck with your weight loss!

Emily- Were you able to get a new watch yet? Glad you got out for a walk/run Monday.

Lynn- It took 6 huge trucks to repave your driveway? Do you have a long driveway? I’m glad they were able to finish it quickly. When I was in Idaho last week, they got snow in Boise one of the days I was there. It seems like most areas have had several days where we are below average temps. Very cool Scott got to see the Tour de California. I’m glad you and Scott had a good bike ride in Ft. Collins. Perhaps you guys took the wind with you from Cheyenne! I’m glad you’ve been able to get in a couple 5k’s this week.

Vicky- How is your shin pain? I would think it would be hard to change your foot strike. Does it take constant awareness to make sure you’re landing right where you want to be on your foot? When do you need to bend your right knee more- while you’re training at the gym? I’d never thought about the other side to triathlons and marathons. That is interesting. I’m glad you had a good weekend with relaxing and runs that went well with no pain! Good luck on your weight loss goals. I’ve heard food journals are good at helping with weight loss because they keep you honest and show you what you’re really eating and how much.

Mary- I’m glad you had a great trip to Disney with the grandgals. What a great surprise for them to have you there! It sounds like you had a good start to your DL half training. I hope your MIL decides to have the surgery soon.

Mike- Good luck to you and Liz on your 10 miler this Saturday and congrats to Robert on preschool graduation. I hope everything goes well with the doctor’s appointment. I’ll send positive thoughts your way! You are doing so awesome on your goal to get 10 half races in this year!!! And thanks for the awesome race report. I loved it!

Kim- Good luck on your half this weekend!!! That’s great your gym workouts are going so well.

Elizabeth- Good luck finding a time to run that works for you. 93 degrees would not work for me either!

AFM, I’m back home finally! And it’s good to be back. My mom had surgery and it went well. I think she was glad to have me there. She’s still not finished with her health treatment, but unfortunately I couldn’t stay with her for all of it. :sad2: I ran 3 miles on the TM today at a level 6 (10min per mile) and I felt really good about that. I’m trying to do run/walk intervals so I’m running 10min and walking 1 min. So far it’s been going well for me, so hopefully that will continue. While I was in Idaho I went to a kettle bell class my friend goes to and it was awesome! :thumbsup2 I would definitely like to get some kettle bells and work out on my own because the workout was great. I had a good time. The only downside is that my triceps in both of my arms are still sore even a week later. The rest of my body seemed to recover just fine. Apparently, I never use that muscle. :confused3 Anyway, that’s it for me! I hope everyone has a nice Thursday. Memorial weekend is quickly approaching! Anyone have any plans for the weekend?

Good morning all.

Lynn: So sad that you won't be at marathon weekend, hopefully we can hook up there again someday:hug:

Elizabeth: Yuck that is hot. Our weather is finally turning hot as well but has gone from cool and wet to hot and humid...no spring for us this year.

Regina: Welcome back, glad to hear your mom's surgery went well. I have often wondered about those kettle bell classes might have to give one a try.

Not much gonig on for me right now, cut out my leg exercises this week with my half on Sunday weather is suppose to be really hot and humid and the race doesn't start until 9AM and being a walker I won't finish for about 3 hours:scared1: Not sure how this is going to go, I will finish but might not be till a bit later then I was hoping for.

Kim

Good Morning Team!

Regina - Only 1 of the 6 trucks were full of blacktop, the others were the spreader, roller, and all sorts of other things. Drive is not that long, but they were doing the drive to the barn which is rather wide. Yes, I think we may have taken the wind to Ft. Collins for our bike ride! Kettle bells sound like a good workout.

Elizabeth - Good luck finding a time to run - we are still having the opposite problem - cool, rain, snow (sometimes - hope we are finally thru that). I am expecting any day for it to be suddenly too hot and having to get out before breakfast!

Kim - I am sure we will run into to you somewhere along the line!

AFM - Just a short walk yesterday, again was planning to head downstairs for more exercise, but got sidetracked with weeding my yard, weeds are coming out relatively easily as the ground is so wet, and I am trying to take advantage of that - getting out whenever the rain stops.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi everyone! Almost Friday :)

Kim - Funny how 9AM is a "late" start... I wonder why they aren't starting at 7 or 8AM. Safe travels and good luck this weekend to you and Kevin! I hope the humidity isn't going to be as bad as predicted.

Regina - pixiedust: for your mom! I'm glad everything was uneventful. Do you have plans to go back and visit your mom? I use to do kettlebell exercises all the time with my old PT - lots of fun! He always said "Don't let go of them!" I saw video of some guy who could "juggle" the kettlebells - he'd toss them up in the air and then have them land on top of another kettlebell. Not too sure about the right knee... I think my trainer wants to work more on it because he thinks it's weak. I did talk to him about the foot strike thing which he said not to worry about. He said it would change through strengthening exercises and changing my foot strike in exercises other than running. But yeah, it is a lot of paying attention and "forcing" your foot to do something that feels different. WTG on the speedy run!! No plans for the weekend except for my baking class which has been keeping me somewhat busy (sorry I owe you an email  )

Elizabeth - Wow! I had to go and convert that into C but that is waaay too hot! Take care if you do end up running outside!

Lynn - WTG on the 5K! Where are you staying when you go to DL?

AFM - Not much of import to report.. got a quick training session tonight and my class tomorrow. I think we're making creme caramel and something else. I'm already trying to decide where to get rid of them :upsidedow We usually end up with about 15-20 of each thing we make. Now if I was running longer distances, I'd probably keep them all! I'm also hoping to catch POTC4 - I've heard from a couple of people that it's not great but I've already seen the first three so I'd don't want to miss this one.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Sorry to keep doing fly-by posts; I hope to have time this weekend to read up on how everyone is doing.

I slept in my running clothes last night so that I could get out for a run before anyone stopped me ;) It is so much easier to run in the morning because this week remains too hot for afternoon and early evening runs. Humidity was at 80% yesterday so I was determined to get out before the sun.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - We are staying at Grand Californian on DVC points. We will get in on Thursday, and stay until the next Thursday. It has been a long time since we actually spent some time at DL.

Elizabeth - I think we will all soon be experiencing the heat that you are now! I keep thinking I am going to have to start my dog walks before breakfast - but not yet (I rather exercise after eating something, so I prefer the winter scheme of breakfast then walk than the summer of walk then breakfast).

AFM - By the time I got out for walk, weather was threatening, so we just did the short loop (1.27 miles), but I did get downstairs and spent 50 min on the spin bike. Today is nice, but the wind will be picking up shortly, might make it up to 60 degrees today!!!

Good luck to all who are racing this weekend!!!

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day and weekend - Happy Memorial Day weekend to the American contingent!

Hello team!

Good luck to all the weekend racers!

Vicky - I was also sad Orlando Bloom wasn't in this movie, but there is a supporting character who I thought was very cute :lovestruc WTG on the weight loss! You're cooking class sounds fun, but I would have the same problem of what do with the desserts. I like to bake but I rarely do because only Patrick and I are around to eat it.

Lynn - I haven't seen anything about DL meet but I'm also not following any of those threads.

Regina - I did get a new watch, it's the same as my old one just a different color. Glad your mom's surgery went well.

Elizabeth - Wow, that is hot! I'm dreading the summer here. I just got some under armour heat gear capris which are supposed to be good for really hot weather. I haven't gotten a chance to try them yet but I hope they work.

AFM - I had an eventful softball game this week. I got hit in the back by the ball while running to first base which caused me to fall over. I got banged up pretty good -- skinned both my elbows and left knee, bruised my right hip, and my back is sore from the impact. My knee got the worst of it, it's bruised and skinned pretty bad. It's really gross right now.

That happened on Wednesday so I haven't been running since. I'll probably give it a try this weekend depending on my knee.

We don't have too much planned for the long weekend. We have some friends coming over Sunday.

Have a great weekend!
Emily

Good morning guys.

Sally hurt her back and so we have both had trouble sleeping the last three days. I have been working on it with massage and heat but her having to go to work hasn't been good for it. She can rest the next three days so hopefully by Tuesday she will be better.

No training today since I have to open the store, need the rest anyway, I've trained well this week and the lack of sleep has been draining.

I hope to buy some DVC points in the future, till then I try to rent from others. I hope to aquire about 3 to 5 hundred before I retire in 10 years.

Dave:hippie:

Cool morning air, sun, the fresh smells of the trees and grass and the company of the birds and squirrels. My time was a brisk 49:30. By the middle of July when I throw down against the other local race walkers in the Trooper Island race, I want to be doing that hilly 4 mile route in about 45 min. I've been talking some trash so I have to keep training and improving cause they ain't gonna be showing no mercy.

How is everyone's training going?

Who is already training for the Goofy? I'm already looking that way, a 10 miler every week or 2 right now along with my tempo walks.

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Dave - More Pixie Dust for Sally’s back!

Emily - Pixie Dust for quick recovery from softball incident!

Mike - Hope your race(s) went well!

Kim - Hope your race went well!

AFM - It has not been a good weekend for outdoor activities, it has been raining all weekend. I did get some flower boxes planted, got out for dog walk yesterday, otherwise have been on spin bike in basement. Today does not look any better!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi Team,

Checking in between scrapbooking our races. Ran out of sticky squares!

Lynn~ I don't really check out the rest of the board, so I don't know of any DIS meets at the DL Half. We will be doing the Family 5k and the Half, so I'm sure we can find time to have a team meet! We will be racing together in the 5K! Eager to meet you and Scott, we will be staying at the DL Hotel.

Dave~ How is Sally's back? PD for her!

Kim~ Great job completing your half marathon! It sounds like you really toughed it out! Proud to be your teamate!

Vicky~ Glad you are enjoying your cooking classes!

Regina~ Good job keeping up on the running!

AFM~ I'll post some more race reports as soon as the new months thread is up. I always seem to post them just before we all jump over to the next month.
Beautiful day here, getting hot! Liz took Robert to the pool, and I'm chilling out watching the Star Trek marathon on TV. The Soldier Field ten miler was a fun time. Last year I finished in 1:38:09, this year 1:38:10! Ugg! I guess I'm feeling the lack of training and the extra weight I've gained.
Robert's preschool graduation was nice. There was about 300 people there for the 40 kids. They all wore white gowns and caps and looked really cute. Robert is missing his friends!

I'll check back soon, Mike :cool2:

Sally's back is well enough that she will be able to return to work tomorrow, I have been working on it with massage and heat. Once we have the funds again I'm going to have her see a chiropractor regularly.

My training is still progressing and I'm s l o w l y getting faster, my mile time dropped 8 seconds over the last two weeks.

I did lose 2 lbs over the last 2 weeks I only way 191 now, I need to be back in the 160s again to do my best racing.

Thanks for all the PD wishes for my Sally.

How many of our team are doing the Goofy?

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Mike - Yes, we should get together sometime, we have volunteered for registration on Friday, and we are doing the 5K on Sat, we will cheer on Sun. I will have my WISH shirt on for the 5K, do not know if Scott will wear his or not, he likes to wear previous race shirts.

Dave - Your training sounds like it is going well, even if you think it is too slow! Glad to hear Sally is doing better!

AFM - We did a 14.5 mile bike ride yesterday, decided to get out before winds picked up, and pretty much made it, wind started about 1 mile from home, so last mile was done against a 25 mph headwind, but before that, it was a very nice ride. Also got dogs out for short loop. Today the sun is finally out! Still very windy, but I will get dogs out for decent walk today.

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Good morning everyone! Looks like the hot and sunny weather is finally here! I think I have to make a switch to early morning running again. Hope everyone is remembering their sunscreen :goodvibes

I also just wanted to pass along a note that Margie is undergoing a biopsy this Friday. I thought it would be nice if everyone could keep her in their thoughts and send some PD her way :grouphug:

Emily - Was that character Phillip? Did you know he's only 25? According to his IMDB page anyway... I thought he was older or at least his character seemed a bit older than that. I thought the mermaids were creepy. How are your scrapes healing? Have you tried Polysporin? Hope you're feeling better!

Elizabeth - I laughed when you said you slept in your running clothes. Maybe I'll try that for tomorrow morning. Is the weather still humid where you are?

Dave - I haven't started training for Goofy but am training for my 30K. I've got a few races between now and November that I will be training for. The Goofy training will probably overlap. Congrats on your weight loss! Keep up the good work :) I think the weight loss will be easier for a lot of us now that the warmer weather is here. I definitely don't like eating heavy and rich foods when it's hot out. Hope Sally is feeling better!

Kim - Congrats on a tough race last weekend! How are you feeling? Was DS happy with his half time? Is he running Scotiabank with you in October?

Lynn - Glad to hear that you've finally got some sunny weather! WTG on the bike ride! I saw the pic of your bike that Scott fixed up! Very nice! Are you really selling it?

Mike - I think the timer was off ;) I noticed for me the extra weight does affect my running so like Dave, I'm really determined to get rid of it  I can't believe there were 300 people for 40 kids! The graduation must have been a huge production ... Where did everyone park anyway?

AFM - I had two really good runs on the weekend! I still can't run continuously for a long distance but I'm able to keep most of my intervals under 10 m/m. And knock on wood, the running has been pain free.

I bought a small square cake pan so that I can still practice baking different goodies but not end up with a large amount of leftovers. I also started halving recipes for muffins and cookies as well. This weekend, I am planning to try out the recipe for 'Ohana's pineapple bread :)

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Hi team!

We had a great holiday weekend. Ken and I got in a 2 mile run on Saturday. That night our DD Anna and her DH David came down for the weekend. Spent Sunday going to church, then went up to my inlaws house and helped with some yard work there. We had a strong storm blow thru here on Wednesday, and they had a lot of sticks in their yard that needed to be picked up. Their house sits on 3 acres so I decided that picking up those sticks counted as our exercise for the day! That night we watched Tangled with DD and her hubby. Loved it!

On Monday we had our second annual neighborhood block party. Hard to believe but it was even better than last year! Two bouncy houses for the kids, lots of great food, and played several games of Pass the Pigs. Ken and I did get in a short 1.7 miles before all the festivities. My right hamstring is a little sore today, but that way my mantra can remain the same "Every day a new ache or pain."

Mike and Lynn...I would be interested in a quick meet up at DL too. Keep me informed. On race day I plan to wear my WISH shirt and visor. We are flying in on Friday, so I don't know if we'll make it to registration that day or not, but we will try.

Vicky and Dave...Ken and I would like to shed a few pounds before race day as well. Unfortunately when I stepped on the scale yesterday, it went in the wrong direction. And I know that all the festivities yesterday didn't help. It seems that the more I work out, the hungrier I get! Also, I seem to do better when Ken is out of town for business. I cook what I like and try to make healthier choices.

Good morning team.

Thank you all for the kind words, that 1/2 was tougher for me than goofy.

Mike congrats on your 10M. Preschool grad must have been so much fun. Treasure those moments they grow up sooooo fast.

Vicky ya Kevin was happy he PB'd or PR'd whatever everyone calls it. I keep telling him imagine what he could do if he trainned ;) Yes he is doing scotia but doing the full. Are you doing Scotia? I think you said you where are you doing full or half?

Going to get out for a walk tonight and test the hip and quad. Nothing tough just a stoll around the block which is about a KM long.

Have a great day all!!!!

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - We are finally getting warmer weather here - it was 40 (F) a few days ago, today the high should be in the 80’s(F)!!! (I am not good at converting to Celsius). Don’t know about the old bike, Scott is a hoarder, I don’t know why he thinks I should keep it, don’t know when I would use it. Good to hear you are running pain free! The Ohana’s pineapple bread sounds good!

Margie - Pixie Dust and thoughts and prayers for you on Friday!

Mary - I will also have my WISH shirt on, so if we do not meet up before, we can look for each other at the start of the 5K! On Friday, we will be volunteering until 9pm.

Kim - Congrats on finishing what sounded like a tough race for you!!! Pixie Dust for you, hoping that you recover from it quickly!

AFM - Got out for 3 miles yesterday, nice day, weather is finally turning warm, and soon will probably be TOO warm! Shortly, I will have to start walking before breakfast. I then had to run errands, then spent the rest of the day weeding - trying to get thru the whole yard while it is still somewhat damp from all our rain. Might try a bike ride today - wind is supposed to be light (meaning 5-15mph).

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!
