Hakuna Kidani, What a Turtleful Phrase!

My class did better today at getting in the groove of things. It takes some kids longer to understand certain rules and expectations. :rolleyes1

:rolleyes::rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I hope you were able to " lay down the law" and remind your students rules are for everyone. :) Hope it gets easier from here.

It should be better by the end of the week. This is practice week. I am teaching them about the infractions that will get them put out of their Fun Friday activity, but I am not counting the points this week. For example, those who did not turn in either homework assignment this morning will get two checks that absolutely do count next week. I told them that would be two of their five checks, and explained how quickly one could get five checks if he/she weren't careful. ::yes:: Next week, there may be one or two who get the five checks and end up sitting on the sidewalk watching the others play and have a treat, but that will be a good lesson for all of them to see that happen.

Because later in life not putting your time in the system when it is due it results in not getting a paycheck on Friday.

I have had 3 last pay period and 3 again this pay period. Fortunately 2 are not the same. The third well..... . I bet 2 will not forget again, 1 of the recent 2 will complain but she is out of town and not a kid I might add.
The other recently quit so maybe he is volunteering his time and since he has forgotten before and this is representative of his work of late.

Some can be "trained" and some not so much. I hope all of yours can be trained. You are just the person with enough rules and enough heart to teach those little ones. :thumbsup2

This is the resort's playground,

and this is a waterplay area that was enjoyed by several DIS kids during our stay.

Back at the cottage, more cool decor.

Stitch was being silly.

Lunch.

Note that Bella has macaroni. Macaroni is her standard answer to "Bella, what do you want for breakfast/lunch/dinner?"

The next pictures are very random. I think Bella and I were out walking.

For Pat.

A baseball plaque in the ground out by the main building.

Carpet in the lobby.

Not sure about the story of this.

A small sitting area off the lobby.

Picking up leaves.

Wigd spotted a little friend in the bushes in front of the cottage.

He was wiggling around, so it was hard to get a picture.

And another friend.

And yet another friend - and in the background, you can see a spiderweb. Chock full of creatures, this place. :)

Good night, everyone. Hope you don't sense any creepy crawlies around your room tonight after seeing the pictures.

I hope I can be of service to them in creating good organizational, work, and behavior habits that will benefit them in their future years. :)

I am sure you do. Let's hope it all "sticks".

I hope I do the same thing for those who work for me. For most of them this is a job through High School and college. My wish is to have them make the transition from school to real job and bring good organization and a good work ethic to the next workplace.

I love all the cute signs at the resort! Beautiful beach- almost makes me wish I didn't hate sand so much!:lmao:

I didn't get to comment earlier-but I completely understand how the most stable part of some of your student's lives is you/your school. I teach first grade in an inner city school, and we have many of the same issues you described! Keep the faith and keep up the good work!

Vero Beach looks lovely! I adore all the turtle decor. I've always loved turtles!

Did you notice the spelling error?

Yes....two L's in "strongly." They need to hire us as proofreaders for Disney signs. :rotfl:

Then we walked outside to see the ocean.

So pretty! We will be at Tybee Island (about 370 miles north of this picture) one month from today and I'm super excited about just being on the beach. Seth saw the ocean when he was 6 months old but it was really cold (March) and we didn't get in the water. I think he's gonna love it. I like the beach but about 3 days a year is enough for me. The sand gets to be annoying.

Picking up leaves.

Seth could spend hours doing this. Maybe he and Bella are future botanists. :thumbsup2

So glad I saw the creepy crawly pictures first thing this morning instead of just before bed last night, plenty of time to forget before I have to close my eyes and sleep! Living in Florida, lizards don't bother me unless they sneak up on me but I am not a fan of snakes at all.:scared:

I love all of the pictures of the cottage. It's so cute and definitely beachy!

Bella loves her macaroni huh? :goodvibes When you ask Mallory that question, her answer is always, "nuggets!"

Did yall see snakes a lot on this trip? I would've been nervous being that close!

I'm an adult, but my answer would always be pizza. I will eat lots of other things, but if it is my choice, it is pizza. :lmao:

MeMom, I know I've not posted in a few days, but we've had some family issue arise that has been taking a lot of my time. I'm all caught up on your updates and loving them as always.

Nice tour of the resort but I could do without the creepy crawlies.

My youngest still loves her mac and cheese and she's 14. Over the years she's added to what she will eat, but she will always eat mac and cheese(but not reheated).

Just when I think I'm all caught up, I step away and return to find a new report! You gals are somethin' else. Well, better go back and read up on your adventures!

Always thinking of my 'trashy' friend. ;)

Maybe one or two of them will get something helpful out of the year.

Yes, I am sure you feel many of the frustrations I do. The poor kids can't help who they are born to or how they are raised. We just try to open their eyes to a more self-motivated, responsible, respectful way of life and hope for the best.

Me, too. I have always been a sea turtle person.

We will look forward to Tybee pictures. :cool1:

Can Bella be a dancing botanist? If there is not room for dancing, I don't think she'll even consider it. :dance3:

I would rather have seen that snake than the mice I know he was eating. :) Mice are not my favorite animals - except Mickey and Minnie.

We saw that snake several times, and I heard some boys at the golf course calling out that there was a snake, but I didn't see it.

Nuggets are a popular favorite with the girls, as well.

If I cuold only have one food, it would be ice cream. Quite often, my dinner is a bowl of ice cream. Meal and snack in one, and then I am done.

MeMom, I know I've not posted in a few days, but we've had some family issue arise that has been taking a lot of my time. I'm all caught up on your updates and loving them as always.

Hope you get your family stuff resolved. Keep that upcoming Disney trip in mind to make you smile.

But those creepy crawlies keep the insect and mouse population under control, so we have to give them their 'props'. ;)

I like macaroni and cheese with a white cheddar. Have you guys had that?

There has not been much time for posting lately. School/work keeps us busy. I feel like we're just letting it fade away. It'll just be put up in spurts, when there are some free hours. We're glad our DIS friends are still stopping in to visit occasionally, though.

Ok finally caught up!! Jeesh I am on vacation for a week in July & didn't Dis much and now just getting caught up.

LOVE the pics of Vero. I love the ocean. I always have. When I was in middle school I had a friend that lived down the street & her parents had a cottage at Well's Beach in Maine. I would always spend a week there in the summer & loved it. We are lucky here in NH to have NH beaches & Maine beaches near by.

I absolutely love the decor of the cottage. Really love those pillows!!

So sorry to hear about Abram. Prayers for his family.

Hope Cara is doing ok.

Thank you Anita! I hope I get to see you all too :) BTW you do look great! I wish I had the willpower to make a lifestyle change. Congrats on your success

Thanks Pat!!

Yes, I'm very thankful for having A job. At this point that's all that matters. now for things to turn around for the better.

Lots of fun activities to do at the resort. I would so wear a Mickey tye-dye shirt.

I'm not a beach person either. I like going but not staying all day.

ahhh a snake!!!! *shudders* of course I think I'd rather see the snake than the mouse too.

WOW. I am far behind.
We are moving hopefully soon and would love a Mickey fountain in the backyard. I hope you get yours.
Sophie looks adorable with the ears.
Gorgeous pics around Vero Beach Resort.
The sign saying “sharks” would make me not go anywhere near the water.
The cottage is gorgeous.
Anita looks good. Congrats to her.
It looks so relaxing there.
EEK! A snake. I would pack up and move. LOL
All caught up again.

I love the whole beach and ocean atmosphere. I just don't like sitting/laying out on the beach itself. :cool2:

I was trying to figure out how to get one of those turtle-cushioned chairs without anyone knowing it. :rolleyes1

So, here's a plan: we bring all of our tie-dye supplies to Pop Century and have a big tie-dye party out on one of the back lawns. :hippie:

Things are slow on this report, so catching up should stay pretty easy. I hope to put up the next batch of pictures tonight.

Funny that you say that about the sharks sign. I like when places put out 'Poisonous Snakes' signs when they don't want people to roam around in creeks, lakes, or whatever area. So much more effective than 'Do Not Trespass' or 'Stay Away from Creek'. :)

************************************

Have a Fabulous Friday, friends! I hope to put up a new set of pictures tonight. If not, it will happen tomorrow morning. Sorry for the slowness.
