Haircut suggestions?

I've been looking for a new haircut for a while...I grew my hair out for the wedding but now it's much too long and I'm getting headaches from wearing it back too much. I'm guessing I'll need to lose 4-6in on the bottom alone, more for the layers. My hair is straight, mid-back length and very thick. I'd like to have something low maintenance-wash, dry, and go. Any suggestions or good databases to check? I didn't have any luck last night with finding good databases.

Anybody know where I can find haircuts?

I had long, to medium long hair all my life. My hair is brown and very thick, plus I have a lot of it so my hair styles wore always a lot of work. 2 months ago I took the plunge and chopped my hair short, I picked the picture from one of the books that my stylist had in her office. We talked about it before she cut it and decided to do it in 2 stages. First she cut it to just below my ear, this allowed me to get use to the idea of shorter hair and gave me couple of weeks to make sure I wanted to cut more. Two weeks later I went back and she cut it again this time exactly as the picture… The end results are I never been happier! I LOVE my short hair cut it is so easy, its fun and stylish.

I forgot to add-I'm anti hair shorter than chin length because of my ears....I'm sure your hair looks fabulous though, mainewmn. I tend to like short hair on others, just way too uncomfortable with it.

Funny since my hair is ALWAYS in a ponytail and that doesn't bother me...who knows.

No suggestions, but you and my DD, 25, are both looking for the same thing. If you find it, let me know.

My only advice is NOT to do a google search of something like "womens' hairstyles." For whatever reason, most of the hits are pornography.

Thanks missypie! I did search "haircuts" but I didn't get anything bad. I'll definitely heed your advice!

Patty3-I'm 23, so we probably are looking for the same thing. Something professional but still young...Who knows. I think I might like Reese Witherspoon's hair in her new movie, but it's a little short-not a lot of room for error if you know what I mean!

I will tell DD to look at Reese's new haircut, thanks. You are right, you both seem to be looking for the same thing. I know that she bought two hairstyle magazines today during her lunch hour. I will let you know if there was anything in there that she particularly looked. She has made an appt to get her hair cut and highlighted on 10/8. I was wondering what about Jennifer Anniston's cut but just a shorter version of it?

I'm not even sure I know what her hair looks like right now...I'll have to check it out.

The best place to look is in magazines. If you want to decide upon something before your appt and don't want to buy the magazines go over to the salon and pour over them. If you ask they'll ususally let you stash them for a day or two.

Also, a good stylist should tell you if the style will look cute on you, or if you don't have the right facial features to pull off that style.
