Hi guys,

Our hols will soon be upon us and odd questions are now cropping up :lmao:

Will my hair straighteners work using a usual uk/american adapter? I've had a quick look at them and they are marked 230 ac which I'm thinking means they won't?!?
I could always buy some new ones whilst I'm out there, would they then work back in the UK? and does anyone know where I could get some GHD's from? No doubt I'll be able to con DH into buying them as we are on our hols :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

And on the same theme, will my nintendo DS lite work over there? Only just got it for xmas and am already addicted :rotfl2: Thought I might use it on the odd evening and perhaps the girls could use it on the plane :confused3 :lovestruc

Thanks in advance,

Ali :goodvibes

don't know about the straighteners but the DS lite will be fine as long as you have an adaptor for the charger. you could buy a US charger for it out there too if you wanted. DS Games are really good out there too and should work out a bit cheaper - even with the lousy dollar rate.

hi, my old style GHD's wouldn't work but the new style mark 1V do but don't get as hot. I ended up buying a pair of straighteners in Walmart they work well enough and are now used just on our trips.

My wife had the same problem with her straighteners, so ended up buying a pair from Walmart the day we got there (as did her sister as I remember). She said they worked a treat, only cost somewhere between $10-15 and now reside in our 'Florida Box' for each trip.
As already stated the DS chargers worked fine, as did the chargers for the mobile phones (X3), video camera, digital camera, PSP, iPod, MP3 players (X2), laptop and electric toothbrush :rotfl:
How you guys that were going 10 years ago coped is beyond me ;)

We all had hideous perms! :rotfl:

Our GHDs worked fine, seemed to get just as hot as they would over here

I bought some brilliant Revlon hair straighteners in Publix which only cost $20 or so and are even better than my GHDs!:)

I bought travel straighteners last time from the airport. Obviously worked but did not get anywhere near the heat I wanted, :confused3 , so I won't even bother packing this time round. I'll be the one with the :scared1: hairdo!

My name is Jan, and....I'm a GHD-aholic

I was panicking about my hair as it has a really awful and inconvenient natural kink. I knew from reading on here that my GHD's wouldn't work, hubby did offer to buy me the latest ones (guilt money as he bought himself a car!) but I couldn't justify buying new ones when my current ones are perfectly fine.
For 2 days I had hideous hair. On the 3rd day I marched to Walgreens and got myself a set for $30. GHD's they weren't but they certainly tamed my mass of wild waves and I felt I could be seen in public again. Don't know if we'll return to the states so on our last day I left them at the hotel. No doubt the maid will either keep them or make a buck by selling them!
