I am looking for some straighteners for my forth coming trip as the ones I have do not heat fully. Someone has suggested - BaByliss Pro 200 Slim Ceramic Straighteners. they are multi voltage but only £19.99 - bargin!!

Has anyone used them or heard of them? I really don't want to meet the mouse with fluffy hair - I may frighten him! :rotfl2:

My straighteners never work properly in the usa so I bought some quite cheaply from walmart about 4-5 years ago. Well worth it as all my friends have also borrowed them and they work brilliant. Sorry can't remember how many $$ they were but I know they weren't expensive. Hope this helps, Maria.

Is there anywhere near to SSR where I could get some straightners - we wont have a car.
We arrive on the thursday and then go on the 7 night cruise on the sat.
If i could nip somewhere to get some on the friday I would be grateful.

Thanks
;)

I just bought a pair from Walmart for $15 they are nowhere near as good as GHD's but they did the job:)

my ghds didnt work either when we went (baseball cap time lol)

Im also interested where to get straighteners

Thanks Michelle - will keep that in mind!

I spoke with Babyliss customer service yesterday and they say the model 2025 works anywhere in the world and heats up to 200 degrees, think I will have to get these!

I use the babyliss ones (I bought them as a stand by when my GHDs went wrong) I think they're just as good as GHDs and about £100 less!!!!

I have got the "AC Compact Ceramic Straightener" which i brought just for our disney trips. They fold away into a small bag and come with an adapter for USA plugs. They are not as good as GHD's and it will take longer to straighten your hair but they did not cost much (i think they were £19.99 but i'm not sure, i got mine from Argos but have just looked in the Argos catalogue and their not in their anymore).

I am going next week and was planning to take my GHDs as I can't live without them, do they not work in the US? I also have a pair bought in Wal-Mart last year, but they're nowhere near as good!

I took a voltage convertor with me on my last trip which I plugged my wet to dry hair straigteners in that I use over here. It changes the voltage of anything you plug into it so my straighteners worked like normal. My husband bought it from Maplins (I think) via mail order.

Not sure what happened to everyone's GHDs, mine worked a treat - true they took a little longer to heat that they do at home, but they worked just fine.

Just wondered if anyone had thought about these?

Braun Smoothliner - Professional Cordless Straightener.- They use the gas cartridges - Argos price is £49.99

If I did buy these -where do I pack them - hand luggage or case and can I take a spare gas cylinder as well as the one on the straightner?

Thanks for any info

I put a Braun styling brush (gas) in my hand luggage several years ago and had to leave it at Gatwick Airport and collect it when we arrived home, so double check about where to pack it

Can confirm that the Babyliss straightners heat up to the same temperature as at home, and worked a treat when I used them 2 weeks ago !! Have tried some from Walmart before but they were useless.

What model do you have? I have been told the 2025H type are multi voltage and they are only £19.99 from argos!
:teeth:

Jill not sure what model they are but they about 2 years old and were about £25 when I brought them so sounds like you will just be buying the new model. I think as long as they're dual voltage you'll be fine.

We got back yesterday and had bad hair days for the whole 14 days!! GHD's didn't work so we just decided to go with the flow (or the curl!!). Washed hair and just tied it back!! Our photos don't do us justice!!!! :rotfl2:

I bought a pair of (american brand) Farouk CHI straighteners when I was there in feb and they are fab......heat up as good as my GHDs. They will be put to the maxiumum test however when there in June/July and have to deal with the humidity. Most of the time my hair will be tied back but its nice to have it down for some of the time.

If you are going to go again (and again) it definately worth the investment.
