Hair/Makeup & Florida Humidity

Hi, I wanted to share that I just got married and did my make up myself. I used "Model in a Bottle" to set my make up and it did a wonderful job! :thumbsup2 I searched the net for something and this product was shown on oprah and Tyra.

HTH!

Thanks so much for the tip:thumbsup2

Your wedding pictures are beautiful:teeth:

Thanks Maggie - it's good to hear from someone who has experienced the same time frame - how did your makeup do?

My makeup did just fine. I wore makeup everyday to the parks and then on my wedding day my cosmotologist used this spray to seal the makeup and it didnt run at all!:goodvibes Hope this helps!

Hmmm, I'm really worried about this. I'm getting married Aug 20th and I always wear my hair down, if I were to wear it up it just wouldn't be me really and I'm all for trying to look yourself. My DF loves my hair down, but I won't be happy if I get an attack of the frizzies. Beaute Speciale are doing my hair and make up, I just hope they have loads of product that can make my hair stay straight. I am getting my hair cut and styled before I go and I intend to get a lot of the weight cut out of my hair, so I'm hoping that will help.
Maggie, on another note I have tried those flat irons that you sent me and they work perfectly on my hair. Thanks so much:hug: you have saved me a small fortune:goodvibes

Reguarding some makeup, a foundation that's amazing is,
Makeup for ever face & body. It's sheer but you can layer it without it getting cakey. Plus it's water proof/sweat proof. I wore it to Disney and it lasted through the humidy, rain, pool, everything. I'm also 23 with with my share of flaws (haha) and it covers fantasticly & always looks natural. If you have a sephora, you can go in one and they'll give you samples of it for you to try. All you need then is a good shine absorbing powder before hand, but I'd definitely if possible at least try that foundation if you can, I'm sure you'll love it too. Another thing I'd like to throw in the air too, if eyes were a concern, Urban Decay Shadow Primer will keep any eye make up on literally all day & night- whatever you put on will stay on until you take it off. For you hair, a possible consideration is TIGI bedhead after party, my hair is long & straight but it frizzes something horribly! and at Disney, I forgot to put it on one day & I looked like I was wearing a clown wig, but the TIGI stuff keeps hair pretty calm & makes it super soft too. If you have an ULTA, they're a good place to check out because if you sign up for their mailing list, they'll send you catalogues w/ coupons to make the purchases cheaper. No matter what you choose, make sure they send you samples, 99.9% of companies will, and if they don't, there's always a store that does offer samples in that product. Even better if you're near a Sephora, they'll make a sample of any product they have for you to try, even hair stuff. Good luck with everything & I hope you can find the stuff you need. These things take time to get it right so don't worry :thumbsup2

Thanks so much - I'm checking out these products

re: makeup, all I can say is: MAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have the best makeup that will give you a natural look. You can run around all day and it will look fresh and uncakey. Just go to the counter and ask what they recommend- you'll see, they have the best stuff!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip:woohoo:

My sister has Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum and I tried it when I was at her house last week. It's just a serum type stuff (:rotfl: I can't think of another way to describe it) that you rub through your hands and then wipe over your hair when it's dry. It tames fly aways and makes your hair look sleeker. It's awesome!!!

I went to get the Tigi Bedhead After Party stuff today, but then I wasn't sure if it would pretty much do the same thing as the Paul Mitchell stuff (and since they're both like $17 I didn't want to get them both!) Any thoughts? Has anyone used both?

Thanks!!

I'm keeping up with this thread.. it's fantastic.. and I think I'll get the model in a bottle!

you girls are so much help with the makeup/hair stuff!! I hate to spend the money on things without knowing if it's going to really work....

btw, the tip someone gave me a few months ago about the bare essentials tanning lotion and touch of sun mineral glow stuff was awesome.. I LOVE those products and when I wear the touch of sun, everyone says I GLOW! Just a heads up for anyone looking for tanning/bronzer type stuff. :thumbsup2

It was like 100 degrees (ok exaggeration- 95 degrees) on the morning of my wedding and crazy humid (june 22).

Lisa Pena did my hair and makeup and it stayed all day and night!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure what she did to my hair. I know she used a flat iron and curling iron (pro strength) and a TON of Sebastion hair spray. My hair did not move and it was half down- I absolutely loved my hair.

It was sooooo hot during my pics and I was sweating so much. Randy kept having to tell my BM's to pat me down because I was glistening:rotfl: (I laugh now but I will be crying at the site of my gleaming face when I get my pics;) ) no but seriously even after all the sweat and pat downs all my makeup was still on except my lip gloss which I just reapplied before I walked down the aisle!

I believe Lisa used mostly MAC products and then she sprayed a fixative on in the end (a model in a bottle typ product) it worked wonders!

Lisa is Beaute Speciale, right? SOOOOOO glad I booked them!! If June 22 was that hot, I can only imagine how hot July 12 is going to be :scared1: and my wedding is at NOON :scared1:

SRUalmn- no Lisa is her own company (Lisa's magical weddings) but I am sure beute speciale uses a similiar product! if not request it before hand.

I have SUPER curly hair and live in Indiana. It's not Florida humidity obviously, but it can get very humid here as well. I use TIGI curls rock booster and curl amplifier followed by a silicone shine spray and then the curls rock hairspray. It works GREAT! When I straighten it I use Alterna hemp seed straightening balm and a CHI flat iron followed by a shine spray. I've never had my hair crimp back up when I do it that way.

Thanks, I'm totally confused! I hope I didn't book the wrong people. I need to go check out my stuff now!

Karen I wouldn't be worried if I were you about Beaute Speciale, they have had brilliant reviews. I suggest you email them and tell them specifically what you want or ask any questions you may have. I did this and they have been very accomodating. I'm lucky, I actually love the look of the make up on their site, I'm into more dramatic looks as I wear liquid liner, eye shadow, extension mascara every day. Plus I know they use MAC make up, one of the reasons I booked them.
As for hair, be specific, take pics, I'm definately doing this, I have asked for loads of product in my hair as it's really thick (Italian) and goes frizzy in the rain or severe humidity although it stands up better in the heat than it does in the rain. I'm still wanting to have my hair down for the wedding but I'm planning on getting alot of the weight cut out before I go.

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone for all of the help. I am off work the next few days so I will be trying them out

My picks:

Hair:
I have super thick hair...not to much trouble with frizz...more so with poof and I love Sunsilk Anti-poof creme (CVS, Wlamart) also inexpensive!

MAKE-UP
LASHES: While I am a HUGE Lacome' fan when it comes to my mascara...I must say that Almay One Coat Nourishing in Waterproof cannot be beat as far as staying put, never clumpy. Same tried and true formula for years now. Also works great when using with false lashes for an extra boost.

LIDS: I have had loads of luck using stains on my lids for fancy events (the stains were for lips and cheeks but worked great on my lids!!! Wont cake or slip

LINER: Liquid liner always tends to stay bold all day but can be tricky to appy

CHEEKS: I love my Origins cheek stain, order well in advance...they sell out quick

FOUNDATION:
1) A super easy one to use is Neutrogena Glow Sheers for light coverage...has a really nice pearl glow / oil free / light wearing. May need to touch up but its so easy as it applies like a lite moisturizer
2) My pref. for photo finish flawless lite wearing super coverage would be Lancome' Teint Idol Ultra ( oil free ) be sure to apply with brush and dab outer rim of chin/neck area w/ a wet tissue to help blend out any lines
3) BareMinerals Powders if you cant do the liquids, they are fabulous!

LIPS: My favorite is MAC See-thru lip color stain in not so shy. All you need to do is touch up w/ gloss once in a while but the color is vibrant but natural at the same time

BODY: Cannot stress enough how very much I adore my Victoria's Secret Bath and body collection in the scent: Love Spell. From head to toe this scent and product makes you feel like a goddess and should be a part of every womans bath regimen! lol
But aside from that, a GREAT product is CO Bigeloe ( Bath and Body Works ) Lemon line. They really do brighten your skin when used regularly and they smell sooo good too! The lemon scrub is amazing...it has strawberry seeds and sugar crystals to exfoliate!

Good luck and Congrats to all of you beautiful brides! May you all live happily ever after in your own fairytales!

Hugs
Jenn

Also wanted to add that this thread was an excellent idea! should be a sticky :goodvibes

I have the same issue of thick, naturally curly hair, and a face that defies makeup to stay on. Lisa Pena somehow managed to get my hair to behave whenever she did it! I don't know what that woman has, but it works. Around the house I usually wear it curly b/c it is so much work to get it straight. I spray it with the dove stuff in the pink bottle, use hairspray (while it is all wet) and then use Rusk's like rubber to put in my hair. It weighs it down a bit and looks good in the humidity, esp with all of the rain we have been having here in Dallas.

For makeup, Lisa Pena used Mac and then used this fixative stuff in a blue bottle (it wasn't Mac's) It stayed all day and all night, if only I had not forgotten my lip gloss my pics would have come out just right! Right now, I use Bare Esscentials for makeup. The mineral makeup is not as heavy.
