Hair extensions?

Any one know anything about them? Do they work, what are the best kinds, how much do they cost, etc.

DD17 got a part in a play & the director has suggested that she wear her hair long. The performance is in December - her hair isn't gonna grow that much between now & then. Her hair is between chin & shoulder length now. DD asked about extensions - I think she has heard of various celebrities using them. Told her I'd check it out - I can call a salon in the morning, but for now I thought I would mine the vast wealth of info on the DIS.

I've looked into them, and I've been quoted between $700 and $900 depending on the salon I've called. The last around 4-6 months depending on how fast your hair grows and how well they are kept.

I actually do them at my salon. They are expensive, like $500+, for the ones that I do. I use Great Lengths (real hair, nice quality). It depends on how fast the hair grows and how much you get a trim as to how long it lasts (plus with general upkeep as well). You can go to www.greatlengths.net to find a salon near you

Thanks - the salon we usually use does do hair extensions, but they aren't listed on the Great Lengths website. Are there other kinds of extensions that are good too, or should I stick with this type?

I'm not sure what type they are using? I like Great Lengths because the bonds are really small.
