Hi everyone. I have recently been diagnosed with a allergy to PPD found in hair dye. I was told many more people are coming down with this allergy and I am not alone. Can anyone tell me what they use if they have this same allergy? Every hair dye seems to have it. Help.

As you can see by my avatar, I just stopped dying my hair.

I'd suggest consulting a professional hair colorist. They'll know what the "safe" products are.

I became allergic to hair dye about 3 years ago. I was allergic to the ammonia stuff. I found Olia by Garnier that is oil-based & I have no allergic reaction to it. I color my hair every 6-8 weeks & it works great.

I am allergic to PPD. The only hair dye I can use is henna hair dye or I go with the wash it out stuff. I have used Olia by Garnier and I didn't have a reaction, but I also didn't put it near my scalp. You might check out buying hair dye through Europe. They have some stuff that is PPD free.

I *think* deposit dyes that aren't permanent will be ppd free - manic panic, splat, etc.

There's also a conditioner color treatment called Overtone.

I think most are fantasy colors though.
