Hagrid’s coaster on a rainy day

We will be at US/IOA this Saturday and Sunday staying at a hotel with unlimited express pass. Weather forecast calling for “heavy downpours” Saturday morning. What is our best strategy for riding Hagrid’s? I think the express pass works on all the other rides, right? I’ve spent most of my time researching for the WDW part of our trip and have just started reading about this coaster to find there seems to be a lot of issues with it. Should we use EE to line up for it or is it too risky that it may not open if it rains a lot causing us to waste a lot of time? Are we better off just watching the app or waiting till late day to try to ride it?

Just make sure you have uploaded the Universal App and have notifications set for when the ride opens. As soon as you see that, hurry over!

I would move on and ride other things, as @damo mentioned have the Universal app handy and check on it. Most cases (not all) the wait times have been reported to be over exaggerated in case that if there is a delay it's part of the wait time. If there are no delays then the wait time is reported to be lower than reported. It has been more unpredictable due to the holidays however. According to the main thread, Hagrid's was expected to open yesterday at 9am, it showed a long wait time when "opened", before showing delayed, and then closed. It was reported that even after 4pm it was still showing closed.
