I read the thread about Hagrids at EE, which we have, if it doesn’t work out, how is it right before park close? Walk on?

It gets a shorter line at night (not walk on in IME). You can get in line right before park close. It seemed that afternoon lines were shorter than morning lines, but this was during a fairly slow week so YMMV. If it is running poorly through the day, it'll have long lines in the afternoon / evening as people try to get a ride in.

The ride itself is extra cool at night! The motorbikes have functioning headlights & taillights - which are working during the day but much easier to see at night.

Thank you, I guess it’s just a wait and see, we’ll be there several days so will probably end up on it at some point.

It is definitely not a walk on. We did it I think three nights mid-June. Got in line 10-15 minutes before close. The whole thing, ride time included, was around an hour each time. Same for Velocicoaster.
