Had to change GF plans for NEW YEAR's

Well, Plans have changed. Our Romantic trip to the GF for New Year's has been changed to a trip with my in-laws.

No big deal, I'll just take it in stride and we will have a great time.

MY Point: Since We can't swing two rooms at the GF, we are going to change to two rooms at PO-FQ. Please tell me lots of good news about this resort. There will be 5 of us, Me,DW, DD (20months),MIL,FIL. We will be there Jan 1-5.

Oh, that's too bad! I visited POFQ during my last trip, and it looked okay. The pool area looked fine, and the gift shop was nice. I'm not sure if I'd pay much more for it than the All-Stars, but it was a little more classy than the AS's.

please tell me more about POFQ...anyone? How long a walk is it to Boatwright's at POR? How are the rooms?

The rooms are decorated nicely and we really loved strolling through the resort to the main building/pool area. With all of the wrought iron balconies and cobblestone streets with street lamps, it really is like the french quarter in New Orleans (only cleaner )LOL

The rooms aren't very big, but since you'll have a room for your own little family you'll be fine. You can take a boat ride to Downtown Disney, too. The pool area is nice and my kids loved the Dragon water slide as much as I did. We only ate at the food court area there, but the food was good.

I'm sorry your trip was changed, hopefully you can enjoy the GF with your husband another time. My husband and I stayed there in 1994 alone and we had a blast.

Poppop, I was supposed to stay at the PO-FQ resort on my last trip, but the resort was closed down. I was so disappointed as I had read so many lovely things about that resort. My last vacation was also supposed to have been just a vacation for my immediate family. A few months prior, my parents not only invited themselves along, they also invited my siblings along. Yikes! All of my vacation plans had to change at that point, so I feel for you, I really do!!

Here is some excellent info regarding the PO-FQ resort that is posted by Dreams Unlimited Travel (the owner of the Dis website): click here to view PO-FQ webpage of information. Don't forget to click on their link for streaming video that they shot on location there. The footage of the swimming pool area was what sold me on that resort in the first place. I couldn't wait to swim in the pool with the "Seaman" (that's what my daughter called the gentleman striding the water slide, hee hee). I guess that will have to wait until a future trip.
