It's our first year in a single family home, so I wasn't sure how much candy to buy. I bought 5 of the JUMBO bags of Snickers, PB Cups and Kit Kats (equal to about 10 regular bags) and I ran out by 6 PM!!! I've never, ever seen so many kids trick or treating in my life, including my own childhood! When we got low, I had DH go out to his truck and get all his quaters (he used to take the tollway to work) so we could keep going, but we ran out of those at 6:30 and had to shut down.
I don't know if it was the warm weather (it was in the 60's, rare for the Chicago area on Halloween, as a kid I always had to wear a winter coat over my costume, it was SO cold!) or the fact that we live in a neighborhood with a lot of families. Most likely a combo of the two for a "perfect storm" of Halloween!
Next year I'll double the candy, I can always return it (yeah right!) if we don't give it all away!
Anyone else get record crowds?
