I called MS at 9:00 today. I wanted to book a studio at VWL for March and it was available. I wanted to book using transferred in points and 2010 use year points. The CM couldn't find my transferred in points. I got really nervous. She kept checking and finally went to her manager. They eventually found the points; however, the CM was unable to use the points to book my reservation. I guess the system is having trouble linking transferred in points. Supposedly, she put my room on hold until IT department can figure out the problem. I'm supposed to hear back tomorrow with a confirmation number. Anyone else have any problems with transferred in points? It makes me really nervous to have points transferred in to my account again. I hope they really do have my room on "Hold".

We have never had a successful point transfer even between our own memberships. The software doesn't know what to do with them and either do most of the MS Cast Members.

We no longer use transfered points.

I"ve had no problems with points I transferred in to my account. They were treated the same as my own points. I've had no problems transferring points out, either. Of course, I wouldn't be making reservations with those points.

The trick is to make sure after the transfer that they actually show up on line in your points detail.

I've done it numerous times over the years, I always have to purchase points when we have the family reunion and I've never had a problem booking. In fact, I've always called immediately after the owners have made the transfers (usually withing 15 minutes) and made my reservation using the points.

They, however, will never show up on your point recap/inventory, but the reservation you made using them will show up. It will look like you used more points than you had.

If you don't use all of your transferred points they will still be available but they won't show up on your point inventory, you'll have to manually keep track of them or call MS.

I've bought points for transfer at least 5 times and the process has always been the same, no hiccups at all. We're having another reunion in 2012 and I'lll have to buy points again to stay a week in a GV.

Keep checking your vacation details, your reservation should appear.

Good luck!

We transfered twice. Both times the points showed up under 2 UYs and MS couldn't access them. The delay booking the reservation caused us to lose AKV Concierge at 11 months 9:00 AM. :sad2:

We learned our lesson.

The 1st time I tried it, MS told me specifically, to make sure that I bought them and transferred the points to the appropriate use year. Ie: I asked the seller from what use year he was selling them and when he called to make the transfer he had to tell MS what use year to transfer them to me. It sounds complicated but for me it's worked out great and it's been easy, in fact I've purchased them from the same DVC owner 3 times in the last 10 years.

Transfered points retain there original UY so I don't see how you can be given a choice of what UY to transfer them to? :confused3

Just an update, MS called me back first thing this morning. They got my transferred in points figured out so I now have a confirmation number. I was worried that I'd lose my studio at VWL. I'm not sure how fast the studios will go at 7 months.

I originally transferred in these points last August. I even used part of the points for our trip this past February. I called in March to bank the remaining points. There were no problems up until this point. The first time I had an issue with these points was when I tried to book yesterday. It's kind of strange how the points can be there one day but not the next. The CM told me that the system is having trouble with transferred in points. Maybe something happened when the points were banked. Who knows?!?

If you are going to book with transferred points, I would call the day before and make sure the points are showing up correctly, especially if you are wanting a hard to get ressie.

I had a HUGE problem with transfered points. It took I.T. several weeks to straighten it out. I own at BCV and the points I had transfered in were BWV. It is a long convoluted story but in essence, I wanted to use these transfered points at the 7 month window to extend/upgrade (1 BR to 2BR)a BCV ressie for OCT of this year. I also wanted to reallocate some of these BWV points since they were 09 points which would allow me to have my own '10 points returned to my account. I took off a half day of work the day the 7 mo. window opened to change the existing ressie. The 2 BR at BCV was available when I called but while trying to use the transfered points to change the ressie, it disappeared. The CM said I could waitlist for the 2BR BCV, which I did. :headache: I went to work, checked my account at lunch and discovered my wait list came through for a 2BR at BWV:scared1::scared1::scared1:WHAT! I never waitlisted for that! Why would I make my BCV ressie at 11 months and then wait to use the BWV points for a 2 BR at BWV? I called immediatly to find out there was NO 1 BR or 2 BR availability at BCV. My origional ress was gone! I insisted my 1 BR ressie be reinstated since it wasn't my fault. The CM was not very nice. She could only give me part of my ressie back and I could waitlist for the other days:mad: I said fine (since I was at work and couldn't deal with the problem at that moment) When I got home from work, I called and explained my situation. This CM was VERY nice and apologetic. She spoke with her supervisor and had my origional 1 BR ressie reinstated. She also informed me that I had no waitlist on record for the 2BR BCV so she reinstated it for me. She also said her supervisor allowed her to give me "priority" for my waitlist. I would go to the top of the list. This was April 7th. My waitlist still hasn't been fullfilled yet:sad1: I subsequently found out someone else's waitlist came through for the same exact dates that booked AFTER me. So much for the "priority". I guess this story did get long and convoluted after all. IMO, I think you have less confusion and chance of a problem if the transfered in points are the same as yours. :teacher::confused3

The owner transferred me points into my 2010 use year to make the reservation back in 2009 for 2010. In fact I bought 2 transfers that year, from 2 seperate DVC owners, one was put into my 2009 use year and the other into 2010! Rules say you're allowed 1 free transfer per use year. Since they transferred to me, it cost me nothing to receive.

You have to know what resort the owner is transferring from and that determines if you can or can't make the reservation at 11 or 7 months. I usually buy transfer points for the same resort I own which makes it easier and I can book at 11 months. I was lucky because when I did it the 1st time I had a very knowledgable MS rep who explained the whole process to me.

I have a quick question. I booked 7 nights on the first day of my 7 month mark. I'm wanting to add 1 or 2 more nights to my reservation. Does MS have to cancel the current reservation for 7 nights or can they just add on the additional nights to the current reservation? I don't want to have any more problems with these transferred in points, which were completely used up by my 7 night reservation.

I have also had trouble using transferred points. It was in December of 2008 and I kept changing reservations and banking and other stuff with those points. Eventually, they just disappeared into no-man's land. Finally, a very patient Supervisor and IT had to get involved and it was remedied. She did mention that the system has a hard time handling transferred points. Even though I was partially responsible for creating the confusion, I swore I would not request transferred points again . . .

and yet I am out there trolling again for them.

It's not ideal and you would think since DVC allows it, their system would handle it better but......
I only need extra points every 3 years or so because the family loves to get together in a GV at OKW, so they pay me for the points I get transferred in. I guess it's a necessary evil but again, it's been simple for me, of course there's always the next time! I hope I didn't jinks myself!

I had 50 pts transferred to me in December 2009. Use year was Dec09. I made a reservation to use 15 of these points in March 2010. No problem.

Fast forward to about February (my UY). I call MS to make a reservation for June 2010, and want to use up these transferred points first. Long hold time as CM has to talk to a supervisor, or something. They come back and tell me I'm all set.

A couple months later, I had to move my June 2010 reservation to July 2010. This time CM says they can't use the transferred points because they are Dec2010 UY. How could that be, since I was able to use them for March 2010? I've talked to MS a few times, and one speculated that these points may have been pulled into 2010UY in Feb2010 when my 2010UY started.

Since that time, I've called to make another reservation for March 2011, so I checked to be sure my transferred points are still there. Yep. CM is very helpful and says he's going to document all this in my profile, and that if I really want to use the points before Dec2010 to let them know. But again, he put me on hold for a long time to work it all out.

Transferred points do not show up online. I'm a bit nervous that these will just disappear. Lesson learned for me is to use up the transferred points first, to flush them out, so I can just keep track of my own points.

All this makes me wonder why they allow points to be transferred at all.

Disney's fix was to limit the number of transfers, just like the wait list fix was to limit the number of wait lists.

Cheaper than fixing the software. :sad2:

You can not see transferred points online. One can only verify that they are in their account by calling MS.

One you book a reservation with transferred points does the reservation show up on line? I just had 62 pts transferred to me that I plan on making a reservation for in a few weeks. I know I cannot see the points on line and I called MS to verify they were there. Will the reservation show?

Yes, your reservation will show up online.
