Had it with BCV

I just returned from my 5th stay at the BCV, and I need to say the rooms and hallways have become pretty dilapidated. The rugs and upholstery were stained, the table tops scarred and veneer chipped. The drapery sheers were disgusting - dirty and with many pulls. I was in Orlando a few weeks before for a nursing conference and stayed at the Gaylord Palms. What an enormous difference. The room was clean, beautifully decorated, and had a computer with high speed internet with no additional fee.

Housekeeping was disjointed - the day we were scheduled for a full cleaning, no one showed. I called and asked when we returned from the parks, and they said it was overlooked. They did come the next day and did a very poor job.

BCV is my home resort and I have 3 contracts there, so obviously I liked it. I don't think I will stay there again although we love the location and pools.

Final comment - I have had some pretty awful room locations - several times right on the service road or over the air conditioner - and this time we were put right on the end overlooking the parking lot. Phooey. I had made these reservations at 11 months out and asked for a pool view (trying to stay off the service road this time) - also like the shaded balconey in the morning.) I called the front desk and said how disappointed I was to have such a terrible location - it was a 8 night trip. They said essentially "we have to rent all the villas", but after I insisted, they moved us to Ariel's courtyard which was fine.

I honestly feel that our expectations are reasonable, that I have done at least my share of the poorly located rooms, and refurbishment of the BCV is way overdue. I am rethinking whether or not to keep my BCV membership at this point. Sandie

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience(s). We are BCV owners as well and hope they have not let things deteriorate. I wish they had made design choices that would have held up better to all the use (and abuse) that BCV gets.

What size unit did you have? One reason I ask, other then curiosity, is that if you had a 2 bedroom with two queens in the second, they are not evenly distributed through the building. There are only a few pool view and they are on the ends of the building. There are also no 1 floor rooms. BCV floor plan

I'd be happy with that vs what has happened to me 2 out of 2 visits at BWV. I own at BCV and haven't had any concerns yet, my black cloud is only over the BWV.

My best advice to you is NOT to voice your concerns to anyone-you'll get questioned and want 'proof' on these boards by certain posters and if DVC/WDW returns a call to you, you'll get some pollyanna on the phone who will only make you more frustrated.
Best comment said to me, "Well, at least this visit you didn't get put in a smoking room again." (I'm a medical reason nonsmoking).

Good luck. Could be worse!! I know!!!

Been hearing that a lot, disappointing.

Maybe its time to charge a user fee :duck: to anyone staying at BCV that does not own there (at least renters?) to help cover all the upkeep needed from its poularity-or is it something else? Is it really just being filled that much more than other DVC's (I'm sure more than Gaylord Palms) or is it just built with inferior products that cant take any wear and tear? :confused3

I'm sorry your stay wasn't magical :( I'm not sure what to think regarding the condition of BCV's... I wonder if it's not something to do with the material's used there... it seems to have more of it's fair share of fair criticism! We've stayed at BW a dozen times and have never had an issue... or at least an issue that was worth mentioning....

Here's hoping BCV's where needed will be re-habbed soon...

hmmmm... the original poster's review of the BCV's sound very familiar

I guess I'm not crazy or the only one that thinks it is in bad shape after all

I really have the same feelings as others in regards to the deteriorating room conditions. BCV is one of my home resorts and the place is looking shabby. On our last trip there, the 2 bedroom unit was dirty and I called down and asked for another unit. It had been cleaned, but there was food left in the fridge and popcorn on the living room floor. I just returned from a week at Hilton Head. Our first two nights were in a two bedroom and the last three in a grand villa. I have to honestly say that I did not find a thing wrong with either of the two units. They were immaculate! In fact, I received I call from the front desk after checking into the villa asking if the unit was to my satisfaction. I have been a DVC member since 1998 and this is the first time that anyone even asked me that question. I know that during the summer they always seem to be booked at 100% capacity. The friendliness of the staff was far superior to most I encountered at DW. I am seriously thinking of an add on. What is it with BCV and the sloppiness of housekeeping?

man I keep hearing/reading these disappointing reports of BC, I was thinking of giving them a spin next year, but I may put off trying them

Hmm.... I go in 10 days. I have requested a clean room with no stains on the rugs or walls and not chips in the furniture. I will let you guys know how it goes.

I echo Monkeypants' feelings. We are new DVC owners and for as much as we've heard in the past how much people love BCV . . . maybe we'll put off visiting until some rehab work is done. Whenever that might be . . .

ok show of hands... who all attacked me and didn't believe me when I said I had the same experience on my honeymoon? haha j/k

Me, for one. You blamed BCV for "the honeymoon from hell." This poster didn't say the room ruined her vacation, she did say that it wasn't as well kept as it should be from her position as an owner.

First off your not an owner (yes it makes a difference) Secondly much of your post ranted about how you were sick. Also take note that in this post the op called the front desk to get the room cleaned. Having said all that there have been a lot of negative posts about BCV. This resort is not that old, any DVC folks monitoring this board want to explain whats up.

BINGO!!! Fishermouse has hit the nail on the head... Not to mention that on your "honeymoon from hell" you didn't even bother calling down to get your issues remedied... you notice that OWNERS do that... You really won't get a lot of sympathy here from owners just based on your method of posting... The OP here however did all the right things, and as owners we can all empathize with her very valid feelings

I am not sure how it makes a difference if he is an owner or not. What? Its okay for a non-owner to get a dirty room? They should expect less because they aren't an owner? Stayed on DVC many times before I joined last month, I never noticed that I was treated any different than the DVC guests. I got the same 'welcome home' as everyone else. I wasn't singled out because I wasnt a DVC member and treated differently. DVC member or not, IMO on a Disney property no one should start their vacation by being checked in to a dirty room.

my 2 cents

Oh, your one of those "high traffic contributers" that we BCV owners have to pay for with our dues. :rotfl:

Yes, be safe and postpone any "disappointing" BCV visits if you dont pay dues there for oh.....say.....about 30 years.

You all are STILL going on about all of this...and I'm not worthy of all the 'superior' DVC members. Well remember, I was about to be one until BCV ruined it for me.

I never once said the room 'ruined' my honeymoon... we still had fun the first few days before we got sick...and it then went from bad to worse however the filthyness of the BCV and especially the room we had made the local motel 6 look ok....that's not what I expect out of Disney, out of the BCV, and ESPECIALLY out of a DVC resort.

Someone explain to me why there is a difference in a DVC member and someone renting from a DVC member? Also someone explain to me why DVC members would call to get their problems resolved and someone on the poop level (as some of you might put it) wouldn't?

I'm sorry...I'm just not as good as some of you DVC members. How dare I even try to go to Disney and take up your room and breathing air.

ok... fair enough... but if this was such a problem... then why do DVC members rent their points out to people.
