Hey guys,

I really need some help from the more seasoned pros. We just re-booked out April/May trip for June and downgraded to Pop from AS Music Suites. The CM called over to Special Requests and confirmed with me that we would be getting a roll-in shower room that ahs 2 full size beds. Now, is this even an option? The CM said that it was, but I wasn't sure about that.

Please share what you know!!!!!

I had a confirmed roll in shower room with 2 beds booked for my last trip to POP. I got there and asked at the desk to confirm that there were two beds in my room (and not for the other room that was booked) and was told 'yes'. I got to the room and it was a king bed. I went back to reception (missing our dining reservation) and was told they could put a day bed in. I was told that they did not have a roll in shower room at POP that had two beds!! I don't know if that meant they didn't have one available or at all. I was too tired to argue anymore and just hoped for the best (only one of the two problems one bed could have caused actually happened).

I did hear (when I called to specify the fully HA room) that they are planning on making all fully HA rooms two bedded.

I hope someone else has a better answer for you, and remember that my issue was mostly that there were only two of us. They will provide enough beds for the number of people in the room and if you need a room for four that is fully HA and they only have one for two, Disney does have elements in place for that situation and will not leave four people in a room for two (so don't panic too much).

I hope that helps, but I am sure that there are others with more recent or relevent information.

Thank you Lisa, I am little worried, but since I know they won't put 4 people in a room for 2, I won't be too worried. I didn't think they had a fully HA room, but they assured me they did. They also assured me that I would have fully HA rooms for our December trip and when I called to confirm a few days before the trip, there weren't any available, and someone hadn't put in the correct request anyway. The CM at Special Request's said I never made the request. I will call them tomorow to make sure it is noted correctly.

I won't worry too much, unless they try to out us too far apart, I have to be right there for my mom at all times.

I'm not sure they can put two double beds in a fully-accessible room. All rooms are the same size; the bathrooms with the roll-in showers are (have to be) larger than standard, to accommodate a wheelchair and allow space for it to be maneuvered. This cuts into the room's sleeping space.

There's already little enough space in a two-bedded room. I think one bed is already so close to the outside door that the door can't open fully.

You need to call back and confirm that they have also given you the connecting room at no additional cost.

Under the ADA the standard is 4 people to room and if that can't be done then they are required to give you an additional room at no cost. Disney is very good about following the law but sometimes you get a CM that doesn't understand the law and the needs of the guest.

IF you call back to ask if you were given the connecting room at no cost they cannot tell you this. Unfortunately I cringe every time this is posted because there are plenty of nondisabled people who will make a request just to get another room at no cost which then limits the rooms available for those of us who need them because we have no other choice. I have a friend who is a t/a who says that people who know this law will use it who are not disabled, so sadly, it is a law/policy that is abused. This is also why they can only tell you, "your needs will be accomodated for your party size" if you call to ask about bedding. ---Kathy

We just returned from a trip staying in adjoing rooms at POP. Room 3170(HA-1 king) and 3171(two beds). I agree that putting two beds in the HA room would make it too crowded to get around in a WC. The roll in shower was nice, but the floor drains drain very slowly. The bathroom door was a slide type. I don't remeber a latch, but the slide feature made it easier to get around. There are pictures of the room posted under the sticky at the top of this forum that look just like the room we had.

Thank you all so much. I am going to call Special requests to make sure my requests are there, but I wasn't going to ask specifically about a second room. It would be nice if that is what they do, because I know we were going to be cramped with 2 ECV's anyway, but mom and I have to have them. Staying at Pop this time is the only ay we will be able to take our trip, but I figure if they have already assured me they can accomodate us, then I won't worry too much.

Anyway, we will be at WDW and that is good enough for me. Sure makes turning 35 easier :rotfl2:

Looking at my bill, I think they did only charge me for one room. No one mentioned this when I checked in, but what a wonderful surprise. We had 3 registered guests.

If I can just tag a question on here...

Are there connecting rooms at Pop (meaning door in the rooms between the two) or simply adjoining?

Am looking at a May trip w/DM who will need wheelchair and HA room. There are three of us and definately need two beds.

THanks

Okay, this is a little fuzzy math :)
About half the rooms at Pop are connecting, but only a quarter of the rooms are connecting pairs.
Say there are a hundred rooms (instead of the 2,880 that really exist - this is just for ease of explanation).
Fifty of those rooms connect to adjacent rooms, but there are only twenty-five sets of connecting rooms.
This matters when, for example, thirty parties have requested connecting rooms. Five parties are out of luck.
