Ha Ha "Which Restaurants don't FEED you?"

Yea, portion size in US restaurants are 2 to 3 times what they should be. I have gotten in the habit of splitting my meals when they get to me instead of just digging in. It's amazing how much better I feel after the meals I do this at since I am no longer over eating JUST because it is there.

In NY, the chain fast food restaurants need to post the calorie information now. It really is eye-opening, when the so-called "value meals" have 1,500 calories or more --- practically an entire day of calories, in 1 lunch meal.

By nutritional standards, most restaurant meals really are double servings, or more.
Like a porterhouse steak, is really enough beef for 3-4 servings... but it's not unusual for a restaurant to serve an entire porterhouse as a single serving. (I grilled a few days ago, and we split a 1 1/4 pound porterhouse between 2 adults and 2 children).

I agree that regular restaurant portions are often quite large but wdw doesn't follow that trend much any more. Even ortions that looked large like a ny strip at le cellier was thinner than a typical steak and had a large percentage of inedible fat and gristle. Typically I'm fine with what's served but I don't want to fill up on empty calories like smoothies, bread, etc like I see many patrons do at wdw. I really wish more places included a nice green veggie with the meals.

Okay. Sometimes I see a menu that I like and then I search for pictures of the food... and what I see doesn't look like much food!

I'm wondering if anyone can help make a list of restuarants that serve next to nothing- you know those fancy plates of food where it's a little circle of meat in the middle of a giant dish with a baby carrot.... :rotfl: Come on, now I'm hungry!

If u r worried about small portions sizes hit all the buffets.:teacher:

We did the DxDDP in January and we thought the portion at every restaurant we went to were huge. We ate almost every meal TS. I actually felt a bit guilty because we could never finish our food. But we are definately doing the DxDDp again next time we loved it :cool1:

I think it's all relative, really. One person's too-small portion is someone else's just-right portion and someone else's too-large portion. I will say that, as a big eater myself, and coming from a family of big eaters, I have never left a WDW restaurants hungry, and I'm often too full for dessert. I guess a couple of pieces of bread and a large, gassy Diet Coke are pretty filling, but the portions look just right to us.

It also depends on the restaurant. Maybe we've missed some of the places with smaller portions. The portions at Citricos look smaller at first glance, but again, I've never left there hungry.
