H2O Glow night - Thursday or Saturday? Would it make a difference?

I would really like to do the H2O Glow night at Typhoon Lagoon when we are there in August. We would be going to either the 2nd last (Thursday 22nd) or the very last (Saturday 24th) glow night of the year.

I'm wondering if it would make much difference in crowds, going Thursday vs Saturday? I'm just wondering if because it's the very last one of the summer, that the Saturday one might be more busy? Or do you think it won't make any difference, and just go with whichever one works best for our plans?

We are going with a Saturday in June because that works best for our plans (break day) But I wanted to say that we are holding off on buying tickets until we see a weather forecast closer to the date. So just another thing to consider .

I am definitely a bit concerned about the weather, and so that’s another question I had - do these events often sell out? I would like to hold off on buying the tickets until closer to the day! My kids (DD13 and DS13) will be disappointed if this doesn’t work out, they think it sounds super cool to be at a water park after it closes, and with glow sticks. I’m sure they’d get it, though, if we couldn’t do it because of weather. They’d be less forgiving if mom didn’t buy the tickets in time and it sold out (but then maybe that means it would have been too busy to be fun anyways?)

I am also wondering how far in advance should we buy the tickets?

This event wasn’t discussed or tracked enough on the DIS last year to be able to answer if any sold out with 100% certainty, but I did not see any discussion, blog posts, notices, etc that any of them actually sold out.

There was so little discussion of it I was surprised to see it back this year, but I guess the numbers are enough for Disney to make it worth it.

Granted the weather wasn’t so great when we went, but the night we did in early July was pretty darn empty (and a lot of fun).

Given the option between one full day at the water parks vs this event (on a Saturday), which would be better?

I was looking at Undercover Tourist, and they are now offering 95% refundable tickets if you opt for a mailed ticket rather than an e-ticket. The small print seems to be saying if you buy the physical tickets from them, they will accept returns on the tickets up to 90 days after purchase, as long as the ticket hasn’t been used and it isn’t past the event date. They keep 5% back for processing the return.

So I’m considering buying my H2O Glow tickets from them, in about a month’s time. That way, their 90 day return policy would let me hedge against terrible weather or other unforeseen changes in our plans.

I had already been considering buying my tickets for this event from UT because then I could get a pretty decent discount on renting a car for the first few days of my trip - UT offers 50% discount on car rentals bundled with ticket purchases.

Maybe I am misunderstanding but if you get a physical ticket for the Glow night and the day comes and the weather is bad and you do not go - then wouldn't it be past the event day if you go to return it? I'm not sure how you could return it same day to get the 95% refund back.

I am considering this because I am really bothered by the mixture of hot sun, pool water and sunscreen. I watched a Tim Tracker video on youtube where he went last year and it looked like a lot of fun and not very crowded. I suggest looking for some videos of the event that people have posted on YT. If you both like to ride the big water slides there then the wait time would be short it sounds like - also a bonus.

Yeah, you wouldn’t be able to cancel at the last minute. I was more thinking you’d be able to cancel at say a week out, if the weather is looking really dire or some other issue comes up...

I was also considering this option. I didn't realize you could get a refund on the UT tickets. Thanks for the info! I've already bought my DAH tickets there. But with the water park, I have the same concerns about the weather. Since it doesn't seem like these sell out, I'm holding off until a few days out. Then I'll buy the tickets. There's only about $5 difference in ticket prices. So I'll take my chances. If UT sells out, I'll just buy the tickets from Disney. I figure that'll be easier than the hassle of calling to get a refund minus the 5%.

Ok just checking cause otherwise that would be a great way to do it. I'm considering the glow nights for our August trip and I think I'll be in the same boat as waiting until the last minute to buy the tickets. Any idea what they did last year if the weather was bad? Did they have a refund? I've been to MNSSHP on rainy/stormy nights and they gave us a one day park ticket to use anytime instead (this was a lonnnng time ago lol) because it was so bad.

I read a review here somewhere, that a family did get a refund last year because of rain. But it sounded like they were kind of insistent about it. Disney was perfectly fine letting guest walk around in the rain. I feel like if the weather was stormy/lightning, that they would automatically give out refunds. But just in case, I'd rather just wait it out and buy tickets if the weather looks good.

Yes I was wondering that if it's just rain whether they will go ahead and keep everything open and let you go ahead. Makes sense they would. Our MNSSHP was a thunder and lightning and monsoon festival pretty much - I'm a seasoned WDW traveler and it was one of the worst I've seen (and hard when you pay that much for a family and can hardly do anything at all so I get it) - and Disney offered everyone a return party ticket or a 1 day anytime ticket for the MK. At least for TL you come ready to get wet - haha! I agree with you and I'll do the same and wait and buy tickets if the weather seems decent. We will get there Sunday and the party is Thursday. If it sold out I wouldn't be heartbroken either.

It rained heavily pretty much our whole event last July. Never did lightning/thunder, so everything stayed open. They didn’t have the live DJ out and the characters were in/out in between showers.

We trucked on and enjoyed ourselves.... although with the rain came cooler temps and by the end of the night we were freezing. In Central Florida in July. Crazy.

It wouldn’t surprise me if some people ‘discussed’ their options with Disney given the conditions that particular evening. Didn’t really cross our minds as we had our run of the park and made our own fun, despite the rain.

We are planning a Saturday night in june but haven’t bought our tickets yet. I think rain would be ok (although quite a bummer) but you could still ride. Lightening for most of the night would completely ruin it. I would probably want a refund if that happened. We didn’t even ask for a refund when our Star Wars dessert party had the show cancelled for a monsoon on my daughter’s birthday. They called a few days later offering a refund since we were already back home.
