H&V - Get out while you still can!

this makes me so nervous too but with no other character places and breakfast options what can we do. Its am EMH so we planned to enter DHS get TSMM fast pass and get to late breakfast and even see Oso. I hate that we have such limited choices and then see this kind of post that its probably going to suck.

We ate there for the character breakfast and had no complaints. It was actually better than Chef Mickey's which i will never do again. I have not eaten there for any other meals but if people were considering it for the character breakfast i would say go for it.

I can't comment on the character breakfast - as we did dinner for the F! Package. Perhaps the food selection is better? but I would still worry about the food temperatures and becoming ill.
I totally forgot about the washrooms in my origional post, but the PP is correct - they were disgusting. I walked in, and right back out

We did late bfast/lunch 3 years ago and it was fine. Had the last bfast time seating so they had both bfast and lunch food out.

Then we did lunch last year... blech!

This year we're going to go back for bfast. DD loves Oso, so we have to do it again.

I am sad to hear all the bad reviews. We normally don't eat at DHS ourselves b/c eventhe QS meals don't appeal to us (minus Pizza Planet). Our youngest son loves Handy Manny and Orso and I was thinking of trying H&V for their character breakfast.

I'm not sure if we should chance it or not. He's seen Handy Manny and gotten his autograph in the past, but never seen Orso. Can we find Orso signing autographs somewhere other than H&V?

H & V is one of only 2 WDW restaurants we will NEVER return to.
We experienced what the OP did.
The hot food was not hot, the cold food was not cold. We were surrounded by dirty, unbussed tables. Our waitress was Rude - the only time we have experienced that in WDW. and the Ladies Room was filthy.
Never Again.

So what's the other one? :confused3

I didn't see Oso anywhere else but like i said before the breakfast was good. Lots to choose from and all the food was hot so we didn't have the same issues others have had for lunch and dinner.

On the opposite spectrum of the dinnig scale. We will not return to Yachtsmans Steakhouse. It is a beautiful setting, with great servers, but the food just was not good (other than the onion rolls with roasted garlic ). We have gone 3 times, thinking it was just an off night. But we now know it is not for us.

H&V breakfast is adequate. I mean, if you can eat eggs and bacon then you'll be fine. But that's it. It is wildly inconsistant and that's the problem. A restaurant can't have a consistantly high price and yet inconsistant quality. It isn't allowed. If there were no characters there this restaurant would probably be perpetually half empty.

We experienced the same thing. I guess we're slow learners, but I kept thinking that maybe we just caught them on a bad night. We've eaten there three times and experienced the exact same thing all three times.:rotfl:

breakfast is great... we actually go there every time to get a nice rope drop spot. BUT--we would never go in there for lunch or dinner... too many yummy places elsewhere.

We liked it. I think it is important to note that they heard the OP's concerns and addressed them immediately. Perhaps something was wrong with the warmers they did not know about? As far as food selections, were they different than was published. I always view the menu before I go to make sure there is something I will eat.

We ate there last Sept as part of the fantasmic dining pkg and had no problems at all. The food was ok (not great but it was a buffet) and it was replenished often. We had a very attentive waiter and did notice that the tables were cleared immediately after people left. I made another ADR for this Sept. as we like the having the seating for fantasmic.

We have eaten there with the characters in past years and the food was edible at lunchtime. Not really good, just edible. We have eaten at Brown Derby with the F! package for the past three years, and ready to switch it up a bit. I didn't enjoy my meal at Mama Melrose about 4 years ago (got physically ill from the brownish sauce on the seafood fra diavolo). Figured we'd choose between MM and H&V.... turns out we'll give MM another chance and order steak. But, still wondering what H&V has for dinner. Can't be worse than our local Old Country Buffet (which we like)!

The menu on all ears is pretty general:
Chilled Salads and Seafood
Carved and Grilled Meats
Fresh Fish of the Day
Vegetables and Pasta Selections
Children's Selection
Fresh Fruits
Variety of Breads
Desserts and Pastries from our Bakery

I have been to Old Country Buffet and think H&V is much better!:thumbsup2

I ate there in 2006 for the Fantasmic package. My friends and I vowed never to eat there again!! Sorry to hear that in 5 years it has not gotten any better. :sad2:

I agree with you....this was the nastiest place ever.....no way will we ever try it again

We only eat at the Scifi when we go and actually had a pretty decent lunch there the last time. We just think that the food at DHS is generally bad though.

The two worst dining experiences I have ever encountered in WDW have both been in DHS and both times, like a dummy, I chose to ignore warnings from DIS members. And those two places are? H&V and ABC Commissary. My advice, do not even walk into either, find other options, they are truly that bad. :goodvibes
