Have you ever taken advantage of this offer? Are there any catches? It seems like a good deal.

Are you referring to the program where if you put your return on a gift card, you get more on your tax return?
We did it last year and got a Target gift card (which we in turn used to buy Disney gift cards -- I am not sure if you can still do that).

I thought there was a law that you can't buy a gift card with a gift card?

Isn't this offer one of those microloans and if you happen to hit the period where irs delays sending checks waiting for more to pay that you risk actually getting less? read the fine print on this one, I stopped doing them when I realized irs delays would impact my return.

individual stores can have a policy that prohibits it but there's no law against it. it's done ALLOT at the local safeway to me-parents drop their kids off for college and think by buying them a safeway gift card they are ensuring the kids don't blow all their money at the local bars but as soon as the parents go back home the kids turn around and use the safeway cards to buy visa or amex gift cards which the bars are happy to accept (it was even more prevalent when we only had state run liquor stores-safeway saw the majority of their gift cards used to purchase visa gift cards at the state run liquor store that was located next door).

I just looked it up, while there is some restrictions like where the money goes on a return and getting cash for the card has laws, there was some stuff that might different on a state level and of course store policy as part of their fraud prevention.

Card for a card doesn't appear to have any laws around it but I didn't dig in for the ultimate answer and I am not an attorney so don't take my word for it. Interesting. I saw some recommendations like using a mall kiosk to just exchange one for the other if you don't like the card or even splitting up the balance to regift them. Best one I saw was extending the expiration by buying another card which is probably what disney is trying to stop with the card for a card.
