Gypsy Question...

DH and I are having a discussion...I read online that you can only load a cart once onto one gypsy. It will continue to work on any cricut after loaded, but cannot be loaded onto another gypsy. He is a computer engineer and he is not sure how the cart can be "locked out" from being used on other machines. So here is my question...those of you who have the gypsy, have you tried to load one cart on multiple machines? Did it work?

I had read on the gyspy forum that someone who was teaching a class with others with the gyspy tried this and would not link a cart to another gyspy that was already linked to the teachers gyspy. Somehow the serial number is linked into the gyspy or vis versa. I have no idea how.

My mom has 2 co-workers that have the gypsy's already.. they also tried to load the same cart... 1 girl loaded hers...handed it to her friend to load...and she could not load it.. .friend picked up her cart and it loaded fine.

So, my guess is that it has something to do w/ the serial number also...but that is just my speculation.

Yes, he did some digging last night and found that the Gypsy encrypts its serial number into the cart. He says there has to be a way that he could wipe if off there , but I told him he was not going to do anything that could potentially break my toy just for research!

LOL! I know.. DH starts talking his computer stuff and I go off into the deer in the head lights look! I'm so bad.. my kids know more than me... but thats okay.. gives them a little wiggle room to "think" they are smarter than me!!!!
