Hello All,
I'm going to be staying at one of the value resorts (Pop Century, All Stars...) and am wondering if there is a gym/fitness center at any of them? If not, can anyone recommend a near by gym that I could pay a daily fee to use?

No gym or fitness center at any value. You have to go deluxe for a gym, except for Coronado Springs.

There was a time when the deluxe (and CSR) allowed anyone to buy a daily/weekly/length of stay fitness pass if you were staying at a value or moderate resort. But, I do not think any of them do this anymore. I called CSR fitness center directly this past summer 2013, and I was advised that fitness centers are now for guests staying and the respective resorts only. I do believe that if you go during the day and just walk in, you might be able to (unofficially) use the fitness center. They will ask you for your room key, I believe. But, I think all the resort keys look the same and I do not think they look at the resort name. On my stay i just didn't work out:( I kind of don't like doing that sort of thing if I'm officially not supposed to.

Now this policy may have changed since this past summer 2013, though.

I'm assuming since the days of the key cards are over, that's no longer an option. Do they have you scan your Magic Band now to enter the workout room?

Does anyone have an answer to this? I will be staying at ASMu next week and would like to have more at my disposal than a 1 mile jogging trail.

Thanks!

I believe runDisney has created a lot more running options in the resorts areas. The sidewalk in front of the all stars resorts stretches for miles now, just run toward sports, past the guard entry, cross the street (with crosswalk) at the mcdonalds and keep running toward blizzard beach and Coronado springs. If you look at a googlemaps satellite view of ASMu you can see this route. My last trip there, I passed a sweaty runner along the resort route, when I came back, he was still running on that resort route and I felt bad thinking he may have been running back and forth like a mouse for the past 30 min. I also instructed my DH how to go out near mcd's for the trail but he never found it :confused3 and ran around the employee parking lot across from mcd's and just stayed on the route along the all stars too. Your pre-planning will help you get off that 1 mile loop.

You could really go to any resort for additional jogging paths. You wouldn't be permitted to use the gyms, but you can certainly be on the grounds. I've enjoyed running at both CSR and POR, and POR connects to POFQ for additional trails. I've always thought it would be nice to run at BWI as well as the path goes from DHS all the way around the resorts in that area.

Staying at Pop myself in less than a month. I'm a workout nut and I'm planning on just missing my gym week(s) by running around the lake and doing bodyweight exercises and such along the path.

It would be nice if Disney could spring a few bucks to set up some workout stations along the jogging trails like many city parks do. Nothing fancy, but a chin-up bar would be nice. ;)

As for not getting a tough workout, there's nothing that a 100 burpees couldn't fix. Of course, it's not the powerlifting routines I'm used too, but on vacation I have to balance time management with family time.

I think the nearest Gold's is about a 15 minute drive away.
