If I book GWL in Niagara Falls for a mid-week stay, is everything still open? My kids are 6 and turning 10 so character stuff isn't too important to them. I want to take dd for her bday but, for some reason, her bday week is $100 more than the next week! So I thought maybe we could play hooky from school and go midweek the next week. Thoughts?

BTW: Is GWL worth it? At these prices, I could almost whisk her away for a Disney weekend!

We went midweek last year in Feb & everything was business as usual. It was pretty busy there surprisingly. We are planning on going again this Feb, just waiting for some codes to be sent out to me in order to book. We went on a Wed night.

We went mid-week November 2008 and had a wonderful time. I am waiting for codes to come out too. I'm hoping to book mid-week in March either before or after March Break.

Because we stayed there before & I booked online, they email me the codes & I also get stuff in snail mail from them too. Last set of codes I got were until the first week of February & we want to go later than that.

Interesting that you mention that, last year (2009), I had 2 reservations at GWL for the holiday weekends for the beginning of the year. When Disney came out with the 4/3 promo, it didn't cost much more for the week so that's what we did.

GWL is great for kids in the winter who enjoy the water slides, etc. My kids however, having been many times are starting to get a little bored of it.

You could whisk your daughter away to GWL for the same price as flying to Disney, food, hotel, & tickets?

The price I got quoted for a night at GWL at the beginning of Feb mid week was $179. That includes your water park tickes for 2 days for a family of 4, all you can eat breakfast & your hotel room. I didn't think that was too bad.

that's a pretty good price. Usually it is closer to $400.

I really wanna take the kids for a couple of nights later this month, I have stayed before but I didn't book online so no codes for me :sad1:

We just got back from a Thursday night stay and loved every minute of it. DS is six and he was the perfect age for all the activities that are offered...and yes everything was still running during the week just a lot less busy. We had such a good time we actually stayed an extra night and would really recommend going during the week and not the weekend. When we were leaving Sat. afternoon the place was packed. If you do go bring your own food because prices are through the roof on-site.

I second that.

We will be bringing snacks, breakfast and lunch with us. We are going to go out for dinner but are aware that the buffet on site is pricey.

Yep-add up 3 GWL days + food and travel @ $299/night, then add up AirTran flights for two, 3 nights in a hotel/condo (the one we like at WH goes for about $80/night), 1-day park tickets for two. It's cheaper to go to Disney, if you only did one park day. I don't want to spend that kind of money, though, because I'd rather save it for a family getaway to WDW so I'm thinking GWL midweek at $199 instead.

Keep an eye out for GWL sales. We stayed last week in a Wolf Den room for $124, then we were offered a second night once there for $129 (for a Friday night). If your a CAA member they also offer a CAA discount.

We did that too! 124.00 on Jan8 a Friday night then in the morning they put an offer under the door for another night for 129.00 a Sat night!. We had a wolf den room--it was great. I would definately bring food or o elsewhere for food. The buffet was 70.00 for me, 17 yr old, 11 yr old and 5yr old but the food was just OK. Everytime we have been there they have offered the extra night.
Have fun!

where did you get that rate?

Hi,
I got that rate off the disboards. The first one was a 48h off rate. The second was o once upon a child rate. I don't know of any good rates now but I have never paid more than 150 per night. Keep watching!
