GV's hard to get at 7 months? Your experience?

Trying to find out how many people have actually been told that there is no availability for a grand villa reservation when trying to book at 7 month window, at a non-home resort?

Also, has anyone ever tried right after 11 month window and been told that your home resort is already booked for the dates you requested?

I was just curious how much demand there really is for them. We primarily plan to use grand villas at some point, but want to rotate through resorts to experience new places. Will probably reserve at 11 month window for home resort, then just check back in at 7 month window to see if there are other options and perhaps switch reservation over - to allow for some variety.

Please respond if you have ever been successful or not successful in making your reservations for a GV. Anyone have luck with last minute ressies too? Thanks for sharing your experience.

We are still within the priority booking window for OKW for the first week of December. I just tried to book a GV for 12/1-12/8, and found there were none available from 12/5-12/7. Looks like we will be sticking with the 1 bedroom we have booked and trying to get a 2 bedroom for our friends.

I think it depends on when you are going. My parents own at SSR and they were able to get a GV at BWV at 6 months out for the end of January this year. Of course, now they are spoiled and have decided they need to buy more points so we can stay in a GV every trip.

Boardwalk: once called 11 months out from date of departure (old rule) and nothing available because others had been doing day by day reserving. And that was to get one in September. On whim tried a few times at 8 or 9 months out and only thing available was one or two weekend nights.

AKV Jambo: called at 10 1/2 months out for January, nothing but a weekend night.

The weeks I like are first week of December, last week of April. BWV is going to be our new home resort - pending.

There are only 7 GV at BWV- that makes it tougher. BWV is my home resort too. The only time I was able to book a GV was almost at the 10 month mark for the first week of October a few years ago. You'll be spoiled forever! Never really tried to get a GV at any other resorts.

Last June I was able to book a GV @ 6 months out. Since my dates in Dec were flexible I had my choice of SSR or Kidani. We had chosen Kidani since it was a resort we hadn't stayed in. My BIL called 15 min after me to book a GV & none were available. I guess it was just the luck of the draw. Btw, I didn't call MS till around 11:30am. I haven't tried to book @ my home resort of OKW for a GV yet. Hope this helps you.
