Can anyone please recommend their particular preference for a GV at GF for a birthday celebration splurge? Prettiest decor? TIA

We had a marina view about 5 years ago in Conch Key. We could see part of the lagoon and the monorail in the distance. This was before the renovation so I can't comment on the decor.

I would suggest requesting a marina view (still considered garden) in the SagoCay building. It's the closest to the main building (bus stop & monorail), but still quiet with lovely views. Either that, or a corner room. They are slightly bigger than a standard (still the same price) with 2 balconies.

I've stayed in garden view a couple of times in Big Pine Key and liked it, but I don't remember the view anything special...it was either of the building near the quiet pool (among bushes and stuff) or of another building next to it (and more bushes). It was lovely, but nothing I'd especially request. I'm not sure if there are any bad views at GF... that might be a good thread starter.

The decor has been the same in every view category we've tried--the wonderful Alice in Wonderland theme. The rooms are large and comfortable. It's my favorite WDW hotel so I have no complaints

I've stayed in Big Pine Key, Boca Chica and Sago Cay personally. All the rooms were identical, except when we were on the top floor in Sago Cay, we had the high ceilings and a smaller balcony. Everything else was the same.
We've had perfect stays every time! :cloud9:

I requested Big Pine Key for our upcoming trip. I wanted to be close to the pools and the beach.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the buildings at the Grand. They all have wonderful views and great locations. Nothing is too far spaced either.

We were in Boca Chica & loved it. Our room was part of our Happy Haunts pkg., so I'm not sure of the category, but we overlooked the quiet pool & it was lovely & convienent. Like the above poster said tho, nothing looked inconvienent, it's not a huge resort. Each bldg. looked like it had some gorgeous views.

We love Sago Cay - marina view. It's one of the most peaceful garden views at GF and it's super close to Gasparilla's.

Thank you all, for your suggestions and info, I really appreciate it.

We were in Big Pine in '99, were actually pixie dusted with a free upgrade from garden/standard to lagoon. I actually spoke with one of the room assigners there the other day (don't ask me how, I called about rooms/buildings for the same thing and they kept switching me around till I got Roger). Any way, he mentioned that my big Pine room number I had was lagoon view, told me that I had gotten a substantial upgrade. He also mentioned Conch Key, said you could get lucky there and get a castle view. I'd advise calling and asking for the GF, the "GF person thenswitched me to the real GF front desk ,they then moved me to room assignments. The other thing is he told me that they "GF" addisn rooms about 5 days out . You can also ask about great views" at check in, that got us an upgrade to lagoon at the YC in February. HTH
