'Hooters Air' Begins Service In Gary
Flights Offered To South Carolina
POSTED: 1:17 pm EST June 10, 2004
GARY, Ind. -- An airline owned by operator of the restaurant chain Hooters began service from the Gary airport Thursday.
Hooters Air is offering flights between Gary and its hub in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Each flight features two "Hooters Girls" who work alongside fully trained flight attendants.
Hooters Air President Mark Peterson said the airline decided to begin service to Gary because it's difficult to get gates at Chicago's Midway or O'Hare International airports. Gary is just southeast of Chicago.
Peterson said he is confident of success in Gary, and another destination may be announced as early as July.
Airport administrator Paul Karas said two commercial airlines operating out of Gary with flights nearly every day provide the airport with momentum to grow.
Southeast Airlines flies out of Gary to two cities in Florida.
