I just asked my husband and he said he pays $12 including tip. He is in the Army Reserve so he gets a short military cut, plus they use a razor to trim up around his neck. They also do a neck massage. He thinks it's the best money he spends all month.

DH has clippers and shaves his head every other week. I help with his neck but otherwise, he does a really good job. Haircuts for DS11 are $15 plus tip at Sports Clips. He loves the MVP with neck massage and hot towel but we don't usually spring extra for that. :lmao: He can get pampered every time when he pays the bills.

Well I don't think 6 miles is gonna make or break your gas budget. I am assuming you take side streets around town, DH drives all over and he stops at different points and gets a hair cut.

I think my wife wondered why I was going out of my way where there were cheaper shops blocks away.

My husband pays $0. I cut it for him.

(or maybe he pays for it dearly, you would have to ask him! :rotfl2:)

$0 DH cuts his own hair. DS29 bought a pair of $25 clippers about 10 years ago because he didn't like paying for haircuts. He noticed that he was paying $12 for a hairdresser to use a "4" on top and "3" on the sides. He still asks me to cut it for him every couple of months.

His example got DH thinking and he started using the clippers on himself. Not sure what number DH uses as he does his own but he likes it pretty short.

Since the clippers were inexpensive, purchased 10 years ago, and used regularly by two people. We must be down to about .25 cent cuts by now.

My dh cuts his own. My ds12 gets his done at Great Clips. It's $12 without a coupon but if I watch my Kroger receipts there are coupons on the back for $6.99. I used to clipper cut his until I forgot to put the blade on and gave him a 3" bald spot on the side of his head (luckily it was after summer break started). I haven't been allowed to cut his hair since.

DH gets a clipper (shaver) cut. He goes to the barber school a few miles from our house. It's $5 for the cut and he tips $5, so I voted the $10 range. Since it's just a clipper cut, they can't really mess it up. I love that they do his eyebrows and that's included in the price.

My husband shaves his head, so he does that himself, but we take our 3 year old to Sports Clips and I think it is around $15 for his cut.

If you keep your hair mostly the same length, you should cut it yourself! It is really easy. The clippers are so inexpensive, I want to say less than $30. We were done the day my husband spent $15 to get his haircut and the girl did a horrible job. He basically was getting a buzz cut, she cut the ears straight across and it just looked horrible. My friend is a hairdresser and she agrees that if a guy doesn't get a "style" he should just do it himself.

I pay $18 with tip. Im picky about how my hair is cut. I found an asian woman who is consistent and that's what I like. And if she raises her prices or if she relocates further away, I'll still come, because I like consistency.

Consistency is why I went to the same $10 place for so many years. DS has experimented, and found the more he pays, the more likely they are to try and get him to wear his hair differently.

Nothing. I cut my husband's hair with our own clippers. We have been doing that since 2009. $25 one time purchase, and we use it weekly.

I'm amazed that you have that many options. It seems barbershops are a dying thing around here. There is one and the rest are hair salons which my dh would NOT ever step foot in. He pays the barber $15 and that's with tip.

Hair salons are what is dying here. My wife has a stylist she loves, has followed her to three different salons as the ones she was at folded.

Dry cleaners have been hit hard too. People doing their own laundry.

And we lost 2 of those fancy $30 an entree restaurants this week. Guess that explains why Denny's is packed with their $2 entrees.

We go to Sport Clips. An "MVP" - haircut, shampoo, neck/shoulder massage - is $22 before tip. Our 2.5 yr old son just gets a haircut for around $12. After tip without coupons we spend about $46 total each month, but they have frequent customer cards so it is cheaper than that every other month, sometimes half.

We have one of those here, it was by far the most expensive, but they advertise a big screen tuned to ESPN in the waiting area, and a flat screen at every chair turned to ESPN.
I don't watch ESPN at home. But I did laugh when the $7 barber shop had their 12 inche tube tv tuned to ESPN. :goodvibes

Your survey is flawed! You left out those who pay under $6...there are probably quite a few that get it done for little to nothing. I personally own my a pair of clippers, and do my hair once a month. So if you assume the clippers will last 5 years (hopefully will last longer), that comes to about $0.50/cut.

I guess I left out those with flawed hair cuts. :rotfl2:
