Am i the only person who is totally gutted that they have extended th ELP.I know its a great parade, but myself and especially the kids have been so looking forward to Spectromagic. We have been there 7 times and Spectro is a must do for us.We had made arranagements around the fact we would see both as we go 3rd till 21st August.I also think it a bit unfair for Disney to leave it so late to decide to keep ELP beyond its due date to finish.Okay we won't let it spoil our trip as we are in WDW but just can't help feeling a bit annoyed.:sad2::sad1::mad:

I'm kinda gutted too, would have been nice to have caught both ELP and Spectro in one trip but hey :)

:goodvibes

We saw Spectromagic last year and MSEP this year. Both were enjoyable but MSEP was IMHO slightly better. Perhaps the buzz of the crowd added to the occasion :goodvibes

I wanted to cry. Does that answer your question IrishGoofy? If you look at one of the reasons why I am disappointed, check my post from last night in the other thread where it was announced that it was continuing. :sad1:

I'm ecstatic that they extended it! I guess you'll just have to plan a trip for next year to see Spectro! ;) :goodvibes

I'm really surprised by the reaction to the extension of the MSEP run. As I said on the other thread I'm thrilled, but I feel really disappointed for those who aren't.
All I think is that we campaign on here for Disney to update, upgrade and bring in new stuff and I'm glad they are changing it up a bit.
The parades are very similar anyway but MSEP just gives me chills.
Those who aren't impressed, I'm sure the run won't last long and Spectro will be back in no time :)

Thanks Tinks. It's not that I wouldn't watch it if it was on as well as Spectro, but Spectro is special and as I said, it's the music that I don't like on MSEP. I wish they would announce an end date so I know. Then I can accept what is and make the best of it.

That is so weird as it's the MSEP music that I really love! Read on the other thread about the DVD you've done for your daughter and it's a shame the spectro music isn't quite as relevant now. What about using the Wishes music or the Suite of Dreams or even the MSEP music as she might be really excited to hear there's a new parade.? :)

I'll give it some thought. You have some nice ideas :) I won't erase the first one as we don't have an end date and I don't want to have to re-do it AGAIN! :lmao: I chose Spectro music because it is a bit sentimental to us (and VERY sentimental to her). Never mind. I'll make a plan

I agree,we do campaign for stuff to be updated and upgraded. But my real point which seems to have beeen missed is the parade was to be seasonal as part of Summer Nightastic, just like MNSSHP is seasonal. Can you think what would happen if you booked around going to MNSSHP and then they decided to change the dates.Yours plans ect would be out the window. As i said in OP we planned around the fact we would do both.I know many who plan there hol at end of Oct and early Nov in order to do both MNSSHP and MVMCP.My real point is when Disney do things like this they don't seem to think of those that have booked around the dates they have issued but only think of "lets extend it and it will bring in more people" and forget about those already booked.

Just read your post in other thread and i feel so much for you. This is exactly the point i am trying to make.Disney has done what it wants and doesn't care about your plans or mine.It just wants to extend ELP and hope it brings in more guests.I just think it is a shame that this is the way thay have gone.

Hmmm think you're being a bit over the top.
Like I said in the post about ride refurbs not long back, Disney can't please everyone all the time. For every person they 'disappoint' with things like this, there'll be someone who is happy with the news. It's Disney world, hopefully there's enough there to please everyone even if some people are disappointed with some aspects :)

The Spectro music is haunting and I'm glad that she (and you) have some fond memories of watching it  and as I say, I'm sure it'll be back in no time.

Well said.

I don't see Irish Goofy's point about planning dates being very fair. We booked our Oct/Nov holiday in June 09, before the MSEP run was announced - how fair is it that someone who goes during only a select few months of the year gets to see it and I wouldn't have? Say if it ran for a year then someone who plans a trip in a particular season would be lucky enough to catch it. I get you point about planning for the MNSSHP/MVMCP but these are tied to these particular times of year and cannot be moved (Disney extend the "holiday season" enough ;))
What I do think is maybe Disney were wrong in not announcing at first that its run would be longer so that people could plan ahead.
:):)

Yet many people are very happy that MSEP is being extended - by your logic that means Disney does care about my plans and the others who are happy at the decision.

I realise that it's a bit of a spanner in the works for some people here, and for that reason, obviously I'm sympathetic - but in the grand scheme of things, it's just 1 event in a very very very big picture. You make it sound like they closed the Magic Kingdom ;)

Sorry Double post.

Yes you are correct,it is a small thing in the grand scheme of things. But isn't Disney all about the small things. If it wasn't why do we all plan so much.It does show that you can't please all of the people all of the time.I think some comments have been a bit harsh such as i am over the top etc.Lets not forget we all have opinions and i was simply expressing mine.By expressing them doesn't mean i am going to enjoy my trip any less as how could you not enjoy being in the happiest place on earth.

In an ideal world, although not economically viable for Disney, it would have been great if they could have had both running, each on various nights of the week. :) I like everyone to be happy. So like they have Fantasmic nights at DHS, they could have had Spectro nights at MK.

EDIT TO ADD: I should mention that I would definitely go and see MSEP if it was on and would make considerable effort to do so if it was only on a handful of nights while we were there because I won't dismiss an opportunity to try something new. It's just to me Spectro is one of the trademarks of the MK to me.
