Gutted - flight price gone up again

We're staying at a hotel called Monumental Movieland on ID, with our budget it was the cheapest we could find!

I've not heard of that hotel before, does it look good? Just wondering, did you price everything up with Disney UK? I'm going just after you (August 26th) and I'm staying at a Disney resort for an extra night with free dining, for pretty much the same price as you have paid. Sorry, I'm being presumptuous in thinking that you'd prefer to stay onsite, but I just thought I'd point it out to you. You might get more for your money. :)

Going that week later makes all the difference Lauren, its the flight prices thats the problem, flight prices are upto half the cost after the 22nd August.

I know, I was suggesting that dan_smith looks at at Disney UK for the hotel offers and free dining. If he was to book a flight-inclusive package, it would end up pretty much the same cost as Thomson I'd imagine (seeing as flight prices are crazy this year), but he'd get more for his money because of free dining and the ticket offers etc. :)

ETA: just remembered he said he's flying into Sanford, so it probably would be more expensive to book a Virgin flight-inclusive holiday with Disney UK- he might be better off booking a hotel/ticket/dining package with them and booking a flight to Sanford elsewhere

Yeah we did price it up but the further into august we went the more expensive it got unfortunately! My girlfriend needs to be back before the 31st so we had to leave earlier!

We got close to it online and was quite shocked when we got our final price so we just thought what the hell!

The Disney flight inclusive are not really an option for August, just priced up 2 weeks at OKW15-29th :rotfl:
Holiday price
1 Adult£2196.851 Adult£2196.85Total price£4393.70
Plus £420 for 2 x 14 day ultimates, total £4813.70:scared1:

Makes mine look cheap, business class flights, 21 nights OKW & 21 day ultimates about £2,000pp

Only way would have been to buy all seperate, rather than going thru a TA, for slightly more could have gone indirect with business class flights approx £1,500pp for flight, monumental & 14 day tix, or indirect economy same hotel and tix approx £1,000pp

It's crazy isn't it, I try not to think about how much money we could have saved last year by going DIY! Oh well, you live and learn. :thumbsup2

I know this question can't be answered but I wonder if flight prices are going to come down anytime soon? Surely they're losing out on loads of business? :confused3

Taken from the Sunday Times Travel section of 31st Jan article headed Flat beds going cheap in the ultimate January sales:

One word of warning: if you're waiting for fares to fall even lower, you're likely to be disappointed. Virgin's chief executive, Steve Ridgway, says that airlines will continue to cut capacity: "This year, consumers will still benefit from the economic downturn, but with less capacity, peak holiday flights are being snapped up ..........."

Hi All
As I was reading this, just wondered if people though I got a good deal?
I was pleased with it and from everything I've read don't think I could have done it much cheaper.

For 2 adults and 2 kids 11 and 6

4 return virgin economy flights- (20 nights away)
2 nights accomodation HRH
14 days at AKL(4 nights nick hotel-booked separately)
7 seater car for 20 nights
platinum insurance
3 adult/1 child 14 day ultimates
free dining

total £5130

What do people think?

Thanks

The outlook isn't good then. :sad2:

That's not bad at all! :thumbsup2

Hi
I forgot to say we are going 8-28 Aug,
but I thought for a package it seems pretty reasonable.

Thanks

I would say with prices I have seen recently your package is cheap.

14 days at AKL std room with your tix = £2,997.00
7 seater car platinum cover £675 approx
2 nights HRH £250 approx
total £3,922
flights stand you at £1,208 or £302pp

what do I think? I think someone has miscalculated somewhere along the line. Double check your invoice that everything/everyone is included. If it is you have a great price.

Hi
I booked last year with TCD.
I called one night quite late and the guy said he would give me a really good price if i booked straight away. I checked the details with him at least 3 times and thought that when I got my invoice something would be missing..
The invoice came and seems fine, I've checked everything and its all there!
I'll probably arrive at the airport and find I don't have any flights!

Ruthie

Ruthie, having looked at Wayne's breakdown, it does look very cheap indeed. £302 (ish) for direct flights in the middle of summer seems a little too good to be true, especially compared to what everyone else is finding for their own dates around that time.

Hi
It does, doesn't it?
But i've checked my invoice loads of times and everythings there, so fingers crossed ...

I must admit I had booked accomodation through WDTC, but cancelled it for the package, as I thought flights would be expensive for school holidays.

We are going 22nd Oct - 5th November so we do a week in half term

I booked our direct flights with BA for £2100 in December (3 adults 1 child)

The same flights are now £ 2,876.00 with BA

and....

wait for it......

£3792 with Virgin!!

Am so glad I made that booking

Fingers crossed to all those waiting to book xx

I see you're going in October. Is it half term? We're going at the end of August and paid £417 each for economy flights with Virgin (miles+money). I don't understand why you're unable to find reasonable prices in October (unless it's half term, as I said, but it's not like it's the height of summer or anything so it still doesn't make much sense). Have you not considered flying out of another airport?

Disney Princess, it seems this year it is far more exprensive to fly in October then August. Our dates are the same every year give or take a day or so either side depending upon how the half term falls, this year they are 10th October till the 31st October = 21 nights.

Virgin Man-Mco PE for 2 adults/ 4 children is showing "no flights" for the Saturday but if I was able to travel fri/sun the cost is £6800.00.

Economy for my dates is £5679.00.:scared1:

The prices are the same out of London !!!!!

Having checked BA they are all about £600.00 more.

Having done this trip for many a year now, I have more miles than I know what to do with in my account, but for the past 2 months when I try to obtain "miles & money" prices it shows "no flights" for the full week of our departure.

If the rumours are true about Virgin cutting back etc, I am quite likely to cancel this trip in the knowing that I need to book my flights next year the minute they come on sale.

As my post states we have 4 young children and I really dont fancy the idea of indirect flights

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble, it's all very bizarre. I hope something comes up for you and you don't have to cancel. :goodvibes

I cannot believe it:worship:

Just checked for August purely out of curiosity really, and as long as I could be flexible with my dates the flights are so much cheaper to October.

What is going on
