Guitar Hero TV ads

Has anyone noticed that the Guitar Hero ads, one from Wal-Mart another from Best Buy, shows parents & kids (way younger than teenagers) playing the game. Then they cut to the rated "T for Teen"

Im not sure why GH is even rated Teen to begin with, but arent they sort of saying who cares about the ratings we will market this to whoever we feel likes it?

I noticed that too and thought that it was odd. We do have that game and I let my younger than teen kids play it (usually all T games are not allowed at our house) but it seems strange to market it as a family game. Mostly becuase it is too hard physically for the smaller kids to play the guitar.

I think that the teen rating is due to the lyrics of some of the songs. Also, some Guitar Hero games have scantily clad women dancing in the background. I also found the ads odd - maybe they are trying to market to nontraditional gamers but the kids in the ad did seem awfully young for the GH games.

I noticed the same thing and commented to DH about it.

I Guitar Hero, but I can never play it because DS (not quite 3 years old) is obsessed with it. There is no way he can do it yet he has a fit whenever he sees it out and wants to play. By the time he goes to bed I am usually too tired to play....same with the Wii Fit and a bunch of the other Wii games. The only thing we have found that he can somewhat play is Mario Kart. Nothing against the Wii (or guitar hero) but it is next to impossible to use with Toddlers in the house! DS could care less about the PS2

I think the lyrics and the graphics are the reason the game is rated T. I think the game is ok for younger kids.

DH comments on that like everytime the commercial comes on.

Both RB and GH have added features that make it easier for families to play. I think RB is the one that lets you turn off fails--so your little one can't keep failing out on the group and the other game has a special family mode.

They need to make Disney RB and GH or a specific Family GH.

My DS7 just won the wii Rock Band Special Edition at his school Christmas festival. I noticed that it's rated "T" for teen, so I guess DH & I will have to play first and see if it's ok for him.

If I were you, I'd look up the song list--if you're okay with the lyrics, the game shouldn't bother you too much.
