Guilty pleasures: Rides you love but are embarassed to admit it!

Peter Pan has always been my FAVE!!! I just love flying over London! And I, too, have to ride the Wedway. It's so relaxing, and you get great views of the Park.

I must admit, even though Buzz is on the VERY TOP of my list, I miss Delta's Dreamflight!

"well, just how sad is that, ....I cannot believe that they" (adults AND children) "thought is was lame, and then they took it further still and wrote in their scrapbook how they did not enjoy it! What is the world coming to?

I agree completely, Nicki !!! What IS the world coming to? I loved your post by the way. You are very insightful.

Personally, I'm 47 and have little or no shame so I ride whatever ride I care to without any sense of embarrassment. I love the carousel, IASM and yeah baby, Time Keeper!

Life is short. Too short to be concerned over what the Disney haters, kill-joys, negative and cynical people have to think or say. But I am deeply troubled by their imposition of their hostility towards the moral and ethical values (generally) embedded in Disney entertainment upon defenseless children.

If these "people" consider such concepts as "lame and obsolete":
*good triumphing over evil
*the value of hard work
*the worth of courtesy and being polite
*the importance of being honest and having integrity
*an appreciation and respect for things good and beautiful
Then I'm right with you mickeyschickie in wondering what kind of world we are coming to.

OK, I'll admit it, I do like Sounds Dangerous. I don't love it, but I do like it.

I LOVE Peter Pan and Dumbo. Oh, and I got tears in my eyes when Eeyore gave me a hug, LOL.

Cara

Another Figgy fan here...and we almost always ride Peter Pan, Carousel, and Pooh.

Peter Pan. Like floating above London looking around. Very relaxing.

My name is Zippa. I am 40 years old and I unabashedly love...

Journey into Your Imagination (current edition rocks!)

Dumbo (our kids, DW, and I all do)

Teacups (kids and I traditionally do this one without DW)

meeting characters

Cinderella's Surprise Celebration (I cried one time)

It's funny, I am never "embarrassed" about riding ANY rides at Disney. But ones that are guilty pleasures do consist of:

1. Winnie The Pooh- Nothing like riding in a huge honey pot, and then jumping along with Tigger. I also LOVE when Pooh falls asleep. Those special effects get me every time!

2. Splash Mountain- Not because it's sorta a thrill ride (I don't go on it for the drops). I love it for the themeing. Yes, it is child-like, but it makes me SOOOOO happy to ride it. I literally have a huge smile on my face for the rest of the day!!

3. Peter Pan Flight- I am ALWAYS looking for new things. Has everyone spotted Ariel?!?

4. I also love El Rio Del Tempo- DH and I love to laugh at the outdated picture/film footage during the ride, but the mood is SOOOO romantic! We always try to get some kissing time in ;)

5. Astro Orbitors- People complain about long lines, but when we go, there are never lines. I love being up above and looking down on the park. Being able to look over at The Contemporary Resort.

DH and I are kids at heart (of course, aren't ALL DISers?). DH always thinks people look down on him because he loves the dark rides more than any others. But of course, I feel the same way! :wizard:

Ooooo! I also forgot:

Tom Sawyer's Island. We love going through the caves, and then heading over to the fort to play checkers while watching kids run around and discovering the "hidden" tunnels!

Okay my MK best that I am reluctant to admit are: Peter Pan's flight....that ride makes me feel like a kid again.

Wedway/TTA ....just went on this one the first time a few years ago, and thought it was a nice break.

Buzz Lightyear....I will admit I love shooting the targets!!!

Tea Cups...all my kids love that, we just laugh and laugh through the whole ride.

In Epcot...El Rio Del Tempo, i love the upbeat ending.

I too, get teary eyed during the fireworks. My 11 yr old always says it's because you can't help but feel the magic....it's Disney. I agree

I really like the boat ride in Mexico. DW & me go on it together, and then when she's shopping in the pavilion I'll go back on by myself. I just find the boat rides fun & relaxing, including It's A Small World!

This is not at all embarrassing, but can I just admit to being giddy and silly over the whole WDW experience?! (I'm 38!)

On our arrival day we are not going to the parks, but will ride the monorail a few times, see the animals at FW (and the lawnmower tree!), check out the Lego store at DD...Just soak up the Disney atmosphere!! Plus, being DSs first trip there, we have so much to show them just around the property! (hoping to see an armadillo!...they were all over FW last time there).

*sigh*!... It's getting closer!!!!!!

My vote goes to the Train Ride around the park. It's our very first thing to do each and every trip. Then a walk over to Tomorrowland Transportation Authority.
How wild can it get????

I too love it's a small world and El Rio del Tiempo. Another favorite of mine is the American Adventure, it doesn't matter how many times I have seen it, it still makes me cry. DH doesn't even tease me about it anymore. :D

Interesting thread. I too love all of Disney, but no one has mentioned a AK ride/show.

I love It tough to be a bug. But you have to watch out for all those insects. ;)

I love IASW!!! It's my favorite ride and I'm so sad it's closed for rehab. I also love Pooh, Dumbo, Magic Carpets, and the Beauty and the Beast show. I love the parades and fireworks and I am one of those sappy ones that cries! I love Disney World!!!

Hi. My name's Ali and I'm a Tommorowland Transit Authority/People Mover - aholic. I don't know what it is about that ride but I love it.

read a layout that was in a scrapbooking magazine that featured a picture of a family in front of Cinderella's castle Mom, Dad, and two little kids (I'm talking 6 or 7 and younger here)...the journaling proceeded to say that they only planned MK into their Florida vacation for one day (and that was their only day in WDW) and they were so glad that they only planned that one day because they and the children thought that the MK was lame and outdated for the children...well, just how sad is that, we all love (as adults) rides like Dumbo, PP, IASW, teacups, etc. and a 4 and 6 yr old think it is just plain lame...

I saw that scrapbook magazine and thought it was sad as well. They also said something about there not being anything the 4 year old could go on. Made me wonder if they were at the same Magic Kingdom that we go to! The best part of Disney is that young kids CAN do most of it, unlike places like Great Adventure where the only kiddie rides are the cheap go-round-in-a-circle umbrella rides.

As far as the original question...I love IASW. And I like the song too :p

And here I thought I was the only one who likes El Rio. ;) I also like IASW and I'm bummed that it's in rehab during my trip. I don't go to WDW in 8 YEARS and the time I decide to go, they rehab the ride I was most excited about taking my dd3 on. Okay, I'm done venting, lol.

i think i went with them once :) never again!!!

Peter pan since i have to drag hubby on it , maybe it is not "age appropriate" for me...tooo bad!( he can put on a fake beard and glasses:rolleyes:

it might be a little "unusually" that i really enjoy buzz llightyear as a Grandma but I do! ( especially since i always mop the floor with Grandpa and it kills him but he is too proud to admit it & pretends he doesn't care . wonder why then last time he wanted to sit on the side i sat on since "it must be why You won" and actually said "I don't care" like a 2 yrs old when i won anyway! he usually is not really competitive so to see him pretend to be totally disinterested but know he is flipping out inside of course makes it more fun teehee)
