Is it me, or is the publishing world lacking in a good guide book for US/IOA? :confused3

I want something to take with me when I go. As much as I'd love to have the DIS along for the ride, it may be somewhat cumbersome. :goodvibes (Even more so than the refillable mugs!)

Any suggestions? :sunny:

Thanks to Bubba' Mom, I now have a copy of The Universal book that Kelly Monaghan has out. She mentioned it in another post. Search Barnes and Noble under her name, I think it's called Universal Orlando or some thing. It's great, a lot more informative than the other books that focus on the the Disney parks and just devote a chapter or two to US/IOA.

Yep....it's called Universal Orlando by Kelly Monaghan....he posts on the DIS all the time. That book is the UOG to Universal that the UOG by Bob is to Disney......glad to see rcraw45425 has learned well.... :goodvibes

Thank you for posting the link. I just emailed the contact info. area on the web site wondering if they ship to Canada for free as well also.

The unofficial guide to WDW has chapters describing both US and IoA. They describe every ride and attraction, and they also rated them. It also includes touring plans for the parks. And the restaurants too.

I think the OP knows that info is in the UOG....she didn't want "chapters", she wanted a book strictly about Universal parks, hotels & CW. This book is like the UOG of Universal (like for WDW).....a separate book entirely dedicated to UO.

Sorry for trying to help, my bad

no sorry :goodvibes .....comments always welcome here....someone else might not know about the chapters in the UOG....i was hoping you realized what the OP was after...... which is: a really good book to help "learn" about Universal Orlando (w/o the "Disney" stuff thrown into it. Seems like most "theme park guide books for Orlando" always mention Disney in it somewhere and UO gets the "short end of the stick"....not so w/ this book!) So, don't feel bad....just making sure everyone is "on the same page" :teeth:

hey bubba's mom, is that book really good? I might try it myself, is true what you said about the books covering most of the part the disney stuff. I need an US/IoA book for my upcoming trip, thanks. :)

but I can attest that it's as good of a book about US/IOA as the Unofficial Guide is for Disney, and I buy that book yearly. It gives a description of each ride, and also covers the dining options and the resorts, devoting pages instead of paragraphs about all three hotels. I had to order mine from Barnes & Noble, it cost <$15 I think.

Absolutely! :thumbsup2 It is a Universal Orlando "bible" (if you will  ) It breaks down everything at the parks, CW, hotels, eateries, entertainment, etc..... It's just like the UOG the Disney peeps use, only for UO. I started out by taking the "skinny" Post-It's and marking my place in the book for tips and things I wanted to remember....well, the whole stinkin' book is "Post-It marked"... :lmao: It is a great comparison to the UOG as far as the info contained.....I don't hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting to educate themselves with UO. As mentioned, the author, Kelly M., posts here on the DIS, so some info is identical between here and the book. If you want an entire book dedicated to nothing but information on Universal Orlando, without ANY Disney stuff mentioned, this is the book you want! :thumbsup2
(:scratchin ...wonder when I'm gonna see some "compensation" for all this promotin' I'm doin'???.... :lmao: )
No, seriously, buy the book! You won't be sorry!! :thumbsup2

My local brick and mortar Barnes & Noble and Borders (this is suburban Boston) both carry Kelly Monaghan's book. In fact, I bought it twice for this trip (once at each store!) since I managed to lose my first copy. :rotfl:
