Thought I should make some tips for anyone who is wondering. I ceated this thread because I see posts on the dis all the time about "How do i become a CL?"

CL=Community Leaders

Community Leaders are mostly the staff assistants in the game. Leaders are there to help all the players and are experienced members. CL's are very high in numbers and do everything a normal player would do. CL's help out at events and answer questions. These are non-profit staff helpers in the game and anyone can be one.

Here is the way to apply

Applying:

In order to apply you must go to the vmk.com website and click the link that says contact us. Enter your username and birthdate and you will select the category "I want to become a CL". You enter your e-mail address and then explain to VMK why you should be a leader. Click next and if it states "you need to spend more time" then that is exactly what you need to do before your apply is sent. Sometimes you are sent a reply to your e-mail stating "we are not looking for any help right now" or you may be sent questions you must answer and submit. These questions are different everytime and are not posted on sites.(or suppose to be).

Here are a few tips for becoming a CL.

1.) Watch VMK.com!

Although it is very rare they tell you about accepting dates, it's always best to watch the site for updates.

2.) Stay away from asking players, CL's, or Hosts in the game

This is a known fact that no matter what you say, you will not get to be a CL just by talking.

3.) After being Rejected- 6 months time before next application can be sent

After being told you are 'not ready' you must wait a total of 6 months or everytime you apply it will say you need to spend more time in the kingdom.

NOTE: Time may change for different players, I think maybe the person who read your answers has to decide how much time you need to wait

4.) Be consistent

Save a copy of why you should be a CL and copy and paste it everyday until you are sent the questions. There is nothing against this and this is what I am doing.

5.) Answer the questions completly

Take your time and complete these questions well. I made that mistake and recieved a rejection letter.

6.) Bans

If you are banned you should probably not worry about the whole CL business. Because mostly CL's have never been banned before and players who have been banned (including myself) really should not try and become one.

7.) New players

As stated by tailfeather I believe you must be a member for a total of 3 months in order to apply. Can anyone clarify this?

How woudl you knwo if a 24 ban would not go torwards becomeing a CL? All bans do.

might want to use sianific(sp?) method here just beucse it happend once dont mean it will happend agane find out if this was true with any one else

Wait! I was banned for 2 hours 2 times but I can still apply because it is not 7 hours???

It depends on the ban. Usually, it needs to be revoked, in order to become a CL. Also, where did you hear this 6 months rule? Was not true before. I got the standard "need more time in the Kingdom" message, reapplied 3 weeks later and was accepted. Any proof to back up your statements? Otherwise, this is all just rumor.

Agreed.

I used to apply once a week back in June, and I kept getting rejected. Then I tried in July, and they finally sent me questions. By August, I was a leader.

There is no 6 month rule at all.

Well I applied back in October and then got a rejection in January. I tried everyday until June 16th was when it finally allowed me to send it in

It doesn't take 3 months for you to spend the time required either... I think it may depend on how many hours you've spent in the park recently...

I was allowed to send it in (time wise) at the middle of September and had just joined in August.

However, I've been around a lot online cause I've been home after surgery.

It sounds from some people like it's just persistence.

Also, I, too, would be careful of stating that you can become one even if you have a ban on the account. That usually stains a record, even if it a short one.

That's why I asked Yavn about it today in the new questions for Yavn thread. (asked him if they could put something clearer in re: guidelines out). Hopefully, once those questions are answered, we'll know something positive.

I have no idea what you're talking about?

You're talking about whether you can become a CL despite a ban. You might be able to, but I agree with other people who say just because it happened once or twice doesn't mean it will every time.

As for the application time, in another thread LittleDragonErin had said you have to be a member for 3 months before it will allow you to send one in. I experienced differently, which was my point. (I had actually been applying and applying like most people are saying they do and finally stopped getting the message that I hadn't been in the kingdom long enough and even msg'd the Black Hole to ask how long it took. they told me it depended on number of hours in the Kingdom and to keep trying.)

Now, mine wasn't rejected as not ready, just that they were not taking apps at the moment, so no, I don't know if it wants you to wait six months after an actual rejection.

I did ask Yavn about guidelines, because in the thread I started about CL apps last week, a lot of people, even current CLs seemed to have differing opinions on what you need to do to become one. It might save the staff some time if people knew not to apply in a certain timeframe of joining or of getting a ban or whathaveyou.

Also, in your Cl guide, you may want to add some of the stuff people were saying about some mail providers not working with VMK (comcast was one I remember) as they don't even GET your app much less respond to it.

I'm finding the whole thread confusing. Disniplaya isn't a CL, so I have no
idea why he started this thread. Wouldn't it have been better for a current
CL to post this? Then again, even leaders don't know what VMK staff are
looking for in their criteria to choose leaders. I don't know what the
questions even look like.

As far as I've known since playing VMK, people who have gotten a ban
have not been made leaders, typically. Under very special circumstances,
I've seen a couple of CLs get banned, but upon further review, their bans
were reversed and they were able to get their status again.

But I highly doubt any player with any bans against them would be able to
become a leader. I would hope Tailfeather's question will be answered
by Yavn or SuzyQT so that there's no question about who can and can't
apply to become a leader.

If a CL wishes to build this thread, than this one can be closed and i have no problem with that

Just to clarify a little better...I did mention that it also varied on the amount of hours spent in the game. You could have a character 3 months only but only spent a total of 24 hours through those 3 months, and that isn't enough. By 3 months, I think that was a general idea of time told to me by Phinny as like 3 months of maybe (as an example...I don't know exact numbers) 6 hours per day? Regardless, there is a specific amount of time they are looking for a player to have spent in the game. We just don't know what that amount of time is. Personally, 3 months of regular playing seems reasonable to me.

Erin, sorry didn't mean to mis-quote.

I agree, my impression from the letter I got back was that it was depedent on hours played in game in so far as well. Perhaps it equals out to 3 months? I don't know I was on A LOT right after surgery as I was sitting home bored when I found VMK.

I do think it's good that current CLs are throwing in... and like Briar, I hpe Yavn answers my question!

I think a lot of people on Dis and VMK would like a little more...guidance and guidelines... not to mention, it might even improve the community with more people aspiring to such. (not that there aren't plenty of good people now, just...everyone's seen the bad ones, right?)

Frankly, IMO, people who have been legitimately banned have no business being a CL, and if some people who I know of DO become leaders, I will quit this game and run for the hills!

Now, go ahead and flame me!

nahhh i agree with you. Even if that does make me not able to become a leader. I made a mistake about who to trust and I should pay for it
