Wait...you bought 500 pts this year or you have a total of 500 pts?I would love to own at both of those places, but we’re already up > 500 points this year so you’ll have to convince my husband.![]()

Yes.Wait...you bought 500 pts this year or you have a total of 500 pts?
Honestly, because we spread them out from Jan to Oct (and won’t finish paying Disney’s 30/60/90 spread until Dec) I’m just now doing the multiplication by our approximate average per point acquisition cost…the good news is that I figured out where all our money went.Yes.
We bought 200 direct with loaded incentives on a cruise. Then 125 VGF resale, then 101 BCV resale, then 150 VGF direct because the price was too good to turn down. 576 to be precise.
Just take my money…nuff saidIf they flipped a BC/YC building.. the amount of money they could charge..
Does this explain the ROFR activity? Seems like a nice margin for Disney on the flip. For those interested, there is a wait list post announcement of selling out, and some waitlist are coming through.
Yeah, my point was that as long as Disney has a waitlist of people happy to pay them over 200pt for VGF, it makes sense for them to keep ROFRing anything below $160…if the waitlist is people actually willing to pay $230, that ROFR price goes higher.Perhaps but I recall those prices of around 140 that were ROFR’d. I suspect as inventory comes through with ROFR, stabilization of the price with increased direct price over time as discussed.
True, but you would think they would ROFR VGC when it was going for $225-$240 earlier this year when they could sell it direct for $310pp….Yeah, my point was that as long as Disney has a waitlist of people happy to pay them over 200pt for VGF, it makes sense for them to keep ROFRing anything below $160…if the waitlist is people actually willing to pay $230, that ROFR price goes higher.
Yes, absolutely…but I also can see how they have more confidence they can sell a bit more VGF around $200/pt than that they can move much VGC at $300/pt?True, but you would think they would ROFR VGC when it was going for $225-$240 earlier this year when they could sell it direct for $310pp….
What can happen is they need to review where they stand with available points in a single unit and also on contracts that have been sent but not yet signed. Eventually they call about those contracts but they tend to give approx a month before contacting people.Well guess who found some extra points to sell us after all of that... Not sure if it was a crummy sales tactic or what was going on, but our Guide called a few days after saying there were zero points available. Had to do a rewrite but got it worked out for another 40 pts.
Definitely had me doing some side eye but got the pts and now we're done with direct for the foreseeable time.
I can think of a lot of current owners who would add 50 points at $310pp, especially post refurb.Yes, absolutely…but I also can see how they have more confidence they can sell a bit more VGF around $200/pt than that they can move much VGC at $300/pt?
Also, saying they have no VGC to sell has to at least marginally help them move VDH inventory, I think?
Rather random question - if I own for example, 200 points at Boardwalk (resale) and add 50 points at Boardwalk (direct) - they require the same Use Year as an Add-On... If I go to sell later, am I selling a 250 point contract or can I sell the 200, and retain the 50? Not doing that, but curious how those "Add-On" points are handled.
Each contract would need to be sold individually. You can keep either of the 200 or the 50 pointers and just sell the other if you wish.Rather random question - if I own for example, 200 points at Boardwalk (resale) and add 50 points at Boardwalk (direct) - they require the same Use Year as an Add-On... Feels unfair to actually succumb to FOMO during summer sales and buy 200, only to feel like I still somehow missed out...Just saw it pointed out in a FB group that VGF isn't even listed on the DVC site anymore (not even in the Add-On section where all the other resorts are still). Poof! I guess our Guide wasn't doing a head-fake with us, so that's good.
I calculate every resale contract listed in my UY and can't find something more enticing than VGF this summer direct! The minimal dues increase just makes it sting even more!Feels unfair to actually succumb to FOMO during summer sales and buy 200, only to feel like I still somehow missed out...
This sold out stuff and the VGF ROFRing are definitely not helping
Never ever forget Disney is master of two things: Magical feelings (positive) and FOMO Marketing (negative). As long and you watch for both you'll be fineFeels unfair to actually succumb to FOMO during summer sales and buy 200, only to feel like I still somehow missed out...
