Hi we are from Canada and bought into DVC. Before we actually purchaced we were not allowed to get any info whats so ever from a guide because of all the laws. I understand that. However when we bought in our guide told us that is we had any questions about DVC now since there is now a business relationship we would be able to call and ask. Today I called because I had a few questions. My guide is now gone but I was told by another that there is no way they can answer any questions. I told him what we were told and he double checked and no he can't. He was very nice and apologized for the misinformation but was unable to help me. Was anyone else ever told what I was? It kind of disappointed me that we were told something that simply was not the truth.:sad1:

Depends upon the context of the statement that was originally made.

The limitation applies to sales-related activities. Due to stringent timeshare sales regulations, DVC is unable to sell over the phone to residents living in your area (province?) Could be that your local restrictions are such that it doesn't justify DVC registering to sell. There are actually two US states to which DVC cannot sell (I believe Nebraska and Hawaii.) Or DVC could have its own reasons for not registering to sell in your area.

Now your original statement was this: "...our guide told us that [if] we had any questions about DVC now since there is now a business relationship we would be able to call and ask."

Taken at face value, that statement is correct. As an owner you have full access to DVC Member Services. If you have questions about banking points, Use Years or any other operational issues, Member Services will be happy to help you.

Did your sales person lie to you? As I said, that depends upon the context. If you specifically asked about the ability to add more points in the future, then he/she was obviously misinformed. But DVC can certainly answer any questions you may have regarding the product you currently own.

Hi thanks for you help. I asked the question first of that being...Once we buy in will you then be able to answer our questions on the phone. I am aware of our laws and yes I know they are not allowed to discuss anything over the phone but then he said once there is a business relationship it won;t be a problem. Like u said though he may have just meant on the product that we already own, not adding onto that current product. I then did ask about adding on points and he said unfortuanatly you would have to come here for that. I thought they would now be able to answer our questions now on the phone. I guess I totally misunderstood. But thank you kindly once again for you help:)

Call the DVC sales number and ask to speak to a Manager. Have them explain the restrictions to you. You can also post your questions here on the DIS and depending on the question we may be able to help you.

Thank you , I wanted to know how an add on works since we have to add on while we r there can you automatically get the same use year as what the original contract is or they only let u add on what is being sold at the present time. Also I wanted to know if when you add on does it just go onto your current DVC loan with Disney or need you reapply? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!:)

When you add on it will be for the same use year as you have right now, if they dont have any points availible for your use year then you would go on a waitlist for them. Now if you wanted to add on 160 or more then you would be able to have a 2nd master contract with a diffrent use year if you wanted to but only if you buy in at the 160 or more mark.
Once you are a dvc member then you will not have to reapply because you have been previously approved for your initail contract. If you have it debited from your checking account it would just all come out instead of them debiting 2 times for it.Your MF would come out with the other maintanence fees that are already being taken out.

Thank you. The only problem with going on a waitlist is when they would be available I emagine we would have to go to Florida to add on at that time. Do the use year they offer change often?

You may want to check out resales as well. It may be option though I am not positive of the Canadian laws. Good luck!

Yes Ontario is the only Province in Canada that they can do this in.

We live in Alberta and of course had to purchase onsite but I have called my guide once to ask some questions and she happily answered them over the phone.:confused3

Was your questions about your current contract or about adding on, if you don't mind me asking?
