Hi All

This is not an important question more of a curious one, i was wondering if anyone knows what our guides make when we buy out points, my wife and i were talking about it last night and i told her i would come here and ask all you pro's lol.

Thanks

Sorry, but the DVC Guide salaries are not for public knowledge.

Thanks!

I have a somewhat rephrase of the question. If I am remembering correctly (and I am getting at the age where I may not be), a guide once told me (long ago) that they are not paid on a commission basis, but instead salary and possible bonus, and wonder if that is still true (assuming it was true before)?

(If you think this is also an inappropriate inquiry, don't hesitate to cut me off.)

CarolAnn,

I just want to clarfiy what you are saying. Is it against DIS board policy to discuss DVC guide salaries? Or are you just saying it's not public knowledge.

DVC guides do receive a commission for their sales efforts. It is a tiered commission where a much higher incentive is paid once a certain sales level is reached for the fiscal year. Some potential members have commented on a sense of "pressure" from their guide and this is likely caused by the guides sales level at that point in time.

Disney's fiscal year begins on October 1, so some sales efforts may indeed be escalated during the August/September timeframe as guides near their goal or try to maximize their "bonus" commission (after already reaching the goal) before the goal begins anew for the next fiscal year.

I was told that the commission (at least in years past) was $1 per point sold up to a certain level and then the commission was raised to a higher level ($3?) for sales above the initial goal. Thus, those already above the goal stand a lot to gain for continued sales prior to October 1.

sales commisions in general range in the 6% to 15% for most industries that I am aware of. Have no idea about DVC guides but I'd be shocked if they were earning less than a tradional 3% real estate seller agent commission. For an industry like this, I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were a 10% commission or higher. just a guess of course.

Thanks everyone for the reply by the look of some of the replies i might have offended some people ( that was not my intent ) so i am sorry for that, i was having a conversation with someone about commission's and to me i felt like the Dvc guides were not paid by commission because of no pressure and just a relax and make sure you make the right choice and whats the best thing for your family, so he began to tell me the crap he put up with his timeshare purchase how he felt so much pressure to buy, so i told him that is was not the case with DVC i mean we took the tour in March of this year and we decided to wait for a little bit just to make sure we could afford it and not have to sell because it was an impulse buy, so we waited and called our Guide back in October and we bought, we really did not feel any pressure form Disney like other people feel in other timeshares, so again if i offended anyone with this post i am Sorry the way i see it is my Guide made us feel so good about our choice and i feel what ever she made was not enough.
