About 2 weeks ago while we were going down World Drive I happened to see someone ridding a Bicycle in the middle of the road and with no helmet, so I am wondering is WDW ok with guests doing that or was that person taking a risk?

Why was he ridding of it--was it broken or was he tired of riding it? Hopefully he ended up donating it to someone.

WDW roads are not suitable for biking. Drive a car. (Or take the bus)

There is a huge distraction factor going on in the cars. Families excited, kids fighting, confusion as to where they are going..., all make riding a bike a bit of a risk.

Then to ride without a helmet is just plain goofy.

Disney Securty and the police would of stoped him and see if they he was okay and as long as they was going in the right direction of traffic. I think flordia has helmets laws but not 100% sure so they would of got a ticket. There no laws saying that you cant bike down the road i know there for high ways and their no posted signs saying you cant ride a bike in a safe manor and going against traffic so you can so the cars and on the side of the road.

There are signs that he might have some problems with his mental health because why would he be riding in the middle of the road. And with no helmet right there he giving the police enough reason to stop and run his id and do a welfare check on him. Let hope it was the heat and nothing else was wrong with him.

A few thoughts.....
bikes are considered to be 'vehicles'..so one would presume that it would be okay for them to be on the road. As long as they are not obstucting traffic. Now...down the middle of the road??? Not sure that is a good idea. One would assume that those on bikes would be over to the far right, unless they were making a left hand turn.
Now, not wearing a helmet is just nuts. But, I guess that's up to the individual....depending on area laws.

Children must wear helmets by law but adults do not. Heck, we even got rid of our motorcycle helmet law awhile back!

Bicycles are only vehicles for the purpose of following traffic laws. Bicycles are not allowed on expressways and both World Drive and EPCOT Center Drive are expressways. I would guess riding is allowed on other roads though.

I think biking and walking is discouraged on all roads at WDW.

However, I know that for the triathalons, they are asking folks to park at the TTC and ride their bicycles over to the bicycle start line at Fort Wilderness.

Thanks for the correction as to 'expressways'. I have always wondered what roads were acceptable for bike riding and what ones weren't. Have to wonder if maybe it was a CM heading to work. Why would a guest be riding a bike there to begin with??
