Guests of guests at DLH?

I also concur that the GCH does not charge more to add someone to your reservation. I had 3 in my room in the spring, and a friend who was staying with relatives in the area joined us on the last night and I added her to the reservation without additional cost. The rooms at GCH have a maximum. My room had a 5 person maximum. So if I was one person in the room, or 3, or 5, the rate was the same.

Just to add, that with the regular hotel rooms, there is a charge per person to add a 3rd (or 4th) adult to the room reservation.

At WDW, it depends on the hotel, with deluxes being more than values. I assume it is similar at DL. The DVC rooms, like VGC are a bit different, they can hold more people, but still have a limit.

There IS a limit for people staying overnight (added to reservation) BUT not too much of a limit as far as stopping by for a 4 or 5 hour party held IN the grand villa!!! Of course NO USE of pool area but hanging in the villa no problem!! Still planning this someday! Love my DVC!!!

I don't think this is the case at DLH. Our last trip was in 2012 so things may have changed, but on that trip we were there for 7 days. My son's friend came from San Diego for one night, and then we had some friends come down from Simi Valley for 2 nights. We were not charged additional for these guests. We did have them added to our reservation for those nights but the rates did not change.

When I made my ressies for this year, I told the CM that I had a possibility of 2 additional guest coming but was not sure yet. She said it would be fine as long as we added them, no mention of additional charge.

We had friends join us once and it was not a problem. There are so many people there, there was no way to tell who was a guest or not. No key checks going on. Kids in the water the whole time, so just one extra adult on deck.

It didn't even cross my mind. I was all "join us for a few hours! It'll be a blast!" and it was. No moral dilemma or angst about it.

The last time I stayed at the Grand Californian my uncle from San Diego met up with us to go swimming. We notified the front desk to give him a room key and they were fine with it.

Except... If 100 hotel guests had two extra friends join them "in the water the whole time," that pool just got 200x more crowded than it would have been otherwise. That can take away from the enjoyment of the use of the pool for paying guests, which is wrong.

If only one person does it, it's no big deal. If e wry guest does it, it becomes a really big deal.

So I have a slightly different situation...can you guys give me your input on whether or not this is okay?

My parents & brother are staying at DLH but me & my boyfriend are staying at HOJO (I'd love to stay on property but we are poor college students). Do you guys think it's a different situation if we swim since it can easily appear that we are staying with my family (we are in our early 20's and both look younger than our age)? I don't want to break rules or be sneaky, but it would be cool to experience the DLH hotel pool so opinions would be appreciated

Or if it's not okay to swim, do you think we can at least go inside the pool area for a bit and not swim? I just want to see that monorail slide-it looks so cool!

I would just have your parents add you to their reservation list for the time you are going to be visiting them, the hotel will gladly do that - I think you can have up to 5 adults on the reservations.

And you won't always be poor college students so enjoy it now -- those are some pretty good years of your life!!!
