Guest relations hours for ticket upgrade

Hi all! I've decided to upgrade my 5-day park hoppers to an annual pass once I arrive on property in March. I'm worried about the timing.

I plan to go to Hollywood Studios first thing for EMH on Sunday -- will guest relations inside the park be open before the rope drop within the park? I suppose I could always walk back out of the park after using my ticket and upgrading.

Second and related questions -- do I need to be in a big rush to activate it? I am mainly just worried about the attraction/Photopass photos from the day -- will they show up retroactively if I activate it in the middle or end of the day?

Thanks for your help yet again!

Just upgrade the ticket whenever you have some down time. No reason to rush to upgrade it and miss extra magic hours. When you upgrade the ticket, all your pictures from the day will show up!

Got it, thank you!! :mickeybar I'm very excited!

I'm in a bit of a similar situation. I bought a DVC Gold Pass online and my first in park day is scheduled to be AK for EMH. I was planning to try and show up early to have a good chance to ride FoP with as little wait as possible. So maybe an hour before EMH (2 hours before regular opening). Does anybody know how early the guest relations or ticket booths outside of the park will be open so I can activate my annual pass?

Guest Relations/ticket booths (either will work) will open about 30 minutes before the start of AM EMH.

I just did it this past week, we were at the guest relations window before it opened at 8:30am, it took an hour to sort all 4 annual passes + 1 day ticket we were purchasing with annual pass discount. Don't waste EMH on it, do it later on when you have plenty of time for it.

Thanks!

But it can be done at any park, as long as there are days left on the pass you want to upgrade from?

Having "days left" is not even a requirement.
You can upgrade as late as close-of-business ON the same day that you use the tickets last asset.

Approximately how much is it to upgrade? I wouldn't normally be able to afford APs, but my parents bought us 5 day park hoppers, and I'm wondering if it would be within our budget to pay for the upgrade.

Is there any reason not to upgrade on your first day in the parks? I'm thinking I'd want to do enjoy the merchandise discount right away and the discount on DW's pedicure which is on day two. Other than Memory Maker, which we purchased with the package, any reason not to upgrade first day?

We want to upgrade our first day because we are going to be there 15 days and the tickets we got are 10 day tickets. If we upgrade the first day, we can immediately make fastpasses for the days we do not have already picked. That is our motivation anyway! lol

The difference between the price of a 5 day park hopper and an AP. A Platinum Pass is $779 and a 5 day park hopper is $445, so $334 (plus tax).

I'm not sure about your question If you are upgrading to an annual pass you don't need to purchase Memory Maker, I would cancel it on the package. You may be able to get credit for it toward the AP, but I'm not certain of that. The only reasons I can think of not to upgrade on the first day is if you are not certain you want to upgrade, or if you are too busy and don't want to spend the time it takes at guest services to upgrade. The main reason to upgrade ASAP is for the discounts. PhotoPass is not a concern as far as when you upgrade, as the AP is back dated to the first day you used your tickets and those photos will be available.

1. Correct.
2. If that does not create a booking penalty, that would work.
3. Yes, they do refund a purchased MM when a ticket is upgraded to AP.
4-5-6. Agreed.
